Carroll High School Weekly Community Newsletter

Message From The Principal
Greetings Tiger fam,
I am so thankful for our community, and this week we celebrate Texas Public Schools Week. This week is an opportunity to recognize the hard work of public school educators and the educational opportunities provided by our public schools.
One of the many advantages of attending public schools is the rigourous and diverse range of academic programs. Students can earn industry-based certifications, college credit, and gain unique experiences—all while still in high school. Additionally, public schools offer numerous leadership opportunities through clubs, sports, and organizations, allowing our Tigers to discover their true passions by connecting with like-minded students and adults on campus.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication of all our staff at Carroll High School and express my appreciation for our parents and community members who make it all happen every single day for our students in the classroom. This week looks set to be warm, bright, and sunny and as we lead into spring break! Thank you for your continued support of Carroll, CCISD, and the Public School System in THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS!
Your Proud Principal,
Mr. Arredondo
Points of Emphasis and Reminders
🍽️ Parent Lunch Visits – Important UPDATE: CLOSED CAMPUS THIS WEEK🍽️
This week we will be closed to visitors at lunch as we MOCK AP Test. After Spring break we will allow parents to join thier students on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Also, the only designated area for parent-student lunches is the Teaching Theater. When you arrive, a staff member will escort you to that location If the Teaching Theater is in use that day, parent lunch visits will not be permitted. We truly value having parents on campus and are putting this in place to ensure these visits can happen while maintaining the safety of our school. Thank you for your cooperation! 🍎
🎒 Clear Backpacks Required – Please Check Your Student’s Bag! 🎒
Parents, please help us ensure your student is following the district’s clear backpack policy. To maintain a safe and secure learning environment, all students must use a clear backpack each day.🚨 Non-clear backpacks will be confiscated for the day and returned to the student after school. To avoid any issues, please check your student’s backpack before they leave for school and remind them of this important policy. If your student needs a clear backpack, please contact the school for assistance.
📢 Important Attendance & Tardy Policy Updates 📢
We need your support to ensure students are in class where they belong. To address excessive tardies, absenteeism, and skipping classes, we have implemented a new referral system to hold students accountable for their attendance that will include discipline consequences.
What This Means for Students:
- Excessive tardies and unexcused absences will result in disciplinary consequences.
- Skipping class will be addressed with escalating consequences.
- Students who miss too many days will be denied credit for their courses.
How You Can Help:
- Submit doctor’s notes or parent notes promptly to excuse absences
- Check your student’s attendance daily using the Home Access Center (HAC).
- Reach out for support – Mrs. Ortiz, our Parent Liaison, is available to assist
Dress Code Reminder: 🧣
A reminder to stay in dress code and know that we are enforcing the dress code. If a student is out of dress code, they will be sent to ISS until a change of clothes can be provided.
Common Violations to Avoid:
- No crop tops or midriff-baring shirts (jackets can’t be used to cover them).
- No BLANKETS, pajama pants, or slippers.
- Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be no more than a dollar bill’s length above the knee.
Thank you for helping us keep a positive and focused learning environment!
