End-of-Year Dates & Events

8th Grade Moving-up Visits

On Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9, Carroll faculty and staff will deliver certificates and awards to rising freshmen between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Anticipated delivery times by neighborhood will be communicated with families on Friday, June 5. These will be 'no contact' visits. All faculty and staff who are participating will wear masks, and physical distancing measures will be taken.

Locker Cleanout & School-based Materials Return

On Wednesday, June 10 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., we will offer a final opportunity for families to collect any remaining personal items in student lockers. Any person entering the school building must wear a mask. Please RSVP here so that we know to expect you. Items remaining in lockers after June 10 will be discarded.

Athletic uniforms, calculators, ELA novels, library books, and textbooks will also be collected. Instruments will collected the week of June 15.

Virtual Band Concert

On the evening of Wednesday, June 10, Mr. Dickson will lead our band students in a virtual concert. More details to follow.

Virtual Orchestra Concert

On the evening of Thursday, June 11, Ms. Sherling will lead our orchestra students in a virtual concert. More details to follow.

8th Grade Video Send-offs

On Friday, June 12, student and staff video send-offs will be posted to all social media platforms at noon.

Progress Reports

End-of-Year Progress Information

In accordance with state guidance surrounding student promotion, a score of PC-19 or WC-19 will be used in PowerSchool to indicate either a pass or withdraw for all courses taken during the 2019-20 school year. Progress reports will not be mailed. Pacing information and individual student feedback for all courses may be reviewed in Empower. If you have any questions about your child's academic progress, please contact your child's team of teachers.

High School Credit Courses

Math 1/HS Spanish/HS Chinese: For high school credit courses taken in middle school, students will be graded according to the criteria set for grades 9-11. Any high school credit course taken in middle school will generate a credit toward graduation if passed, but not be calculated into the high school Grade Point Average (GPA) per State Board Policy.

Wake County leadership has recently made a change to the Middle School Grading Guidelines in accordance with State Board of Education guidance. This change only impacts year-long high school courses taken in middle school (Math 1 and Math 2). Middle school students will continue to receive high school credit, but the credits will be split. Students will receive 0.5 credit for the fall semester (if passing with a 60 average or better) and 0.5 credit for the third quarter (if passing with a 60 average or better). The first semester numerical grade will be posted in Powerschool and on the transcript as a half credit. The final Quarter 3 grade will be the second semester grade. Students will continue to have the option to choose between posting a numerical grade or a PC-19/WC-19 for their Semester 2 grade only. Any student who would like for his/her grade to be posted as a numerical grade should submit this UPDATED Request Form to his/her assigned teacher by June 5.
