Moving FORWARD in EMSD #37
Dear Families and Community,
I am thrilled to share with you our new strategic plan, EMSD 37 Forward, which will guide the East Moline School District over the next few years. This plan is the culmination of months of thoughtful work by our teachers, staff, parents, district leaders, and the Board of Education. EMSD 37 Forward has three main areas of focus: Student Excellence & Well-Being, Staff Excellence & Well-Being, and District Excellence.
Student Excellence & Well-Being will focus on providing every student with a high-quality education that prepares them for success in college, career, and life. We will also work to ensure that all students feel safe, supported, and engaged in their learning.
Staff Excellence & Well-Being will focus on attracting and retaining high-quality teachers and staff. We will also provide our staff with the resources and support they need to be successful.
District Excellence will focus on ensuring that we improve upon and open new avenues of communication and two-way feedback with our stakeholders, leverage and maximize district resources, and create an environment where everyone can thrive.
I am confident that EMSD 37 Forward will help us achieve our goal of creating a pathway for sustained success and providing every student with a world-class education. I look forward to working with you to make this plan a reality.
Wishing you all a great year ahead,
Chris Vanspeybroeck, Board of Education President

Educators Learning and Growing
The September 3rd Professional Learning Day was a huge success! Teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators had the opportunity to choose from a variety of professional learning sessions tailored to meet their individual needs and align with the key priorities of their schools. Topics included literacy strategies, instructional techniques, social-emotional learning, and student engagement. Presenters, both from within our district and external experts, shared valuable insights and practical tips to help teachers enhance their classroom practices.
To add a touch of fun and relaxation, the event incorporated a film festival theme. Teachers were greeted in the morning by a lively “magic squad,” setting a festive tone for the day. The event featured food trucks, music, and outdoor seating, creating a festive and enjoyable atmosphere.
The event was a testament to EMSD #37's commitment to providing our staff with the resources and support they need to excel in their roles. It was a day filled with learning, laughter, and appreciation for the contributions our very talented staff makes to our school community.
