Message from the Principal
Dear BEC Families,
My name is Dr. Crystal Hunter, and I am the Director and Principal for Barfield. For the past 15 years, I have dedicated myself to the field of education, and Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education has always held a special place in my heart. It is my deepest passion to ensure EVERY child feels safe, loved, and fully prepared for their next educational chapter. Here at BEC, we believe all children have a place to thrive and learn, and we are committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for each and every one of them.
On a personal note, I am a proud wife and mother to five amazing boys, all of whom were adopted and have unique needs. Raising them has profoundly shaped my perspective on education, particularly the importance of understanding and catering to the individual needs of each child. Their journeys inspire me every day to create a school where all children feel valued and supported.
I am incredibly enthusiastic about the opportunity to get to know you and your child. Together, we can build a strong foundation for their educational journey. Here's to a fantastic 2024-2025 school year!
Warmly,
Dr. Crystal Hunter Director/Principal

14th Annual Back To School Fair
The WSD plans to host the 14th Annual Back to School Fair for District families on Saturday, August 10, from 8-11 a.m. at Liberty High School. The event is intended to get school supplies in the hands of WSD students who need them the most.
The event is free for District families and will feature dozens of vendors, free school supplies, games and fun activities for children. At last year's event, we distributed over $10,000 worth of school supplies to WSD students. In addition, MOChip will be on hand to provide free child identification kits.
While the event is free, families are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Operation Food Search, which serves local families in need. For more information, visit the WSD website.
