PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
This week, we had the pleasure of hosting a visit from our area Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Matt Buchler. It was a great opportunity to share the excellent teaching and learning happening here at Eagle Crest.
During his visit, Mr. Buchler observed engaging whole-group and small-group instruction, highlighting the thoughtful ways our teachers support students’ learning. He also saw students using tools like iPads to access differentiated resources, ensuring that every learner has the support they need to thrive.
Our hallways are currently filled with displays that highlight student creativity and hard work. From thinking maps and writing inspired by our ReadyGEN curriculum, to artwork and projects, these displays illustrate the impact of our curriculum and the dedication of our staff.
At Eagle Crest, we strive to live our motto daily: "We are leaders. We help build a better world." It was valuable to share our school’s culture with an outside perspective and affirm the positive work happening in our community.
I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS' UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
At this point in the school year, we take time to conduct our mid-year assessments. We use this assessment data to plan instruction for the remainder of the school year, track individual student growth, and target student needs for intervention or enrichment. In addition to classroom assessments, we focus on two district-wide assessments.
Kindergarteners are currently taking the DIBELS 8 reading assessment. This is conducted 1:1 with their teacher and measures their knowledge of letter names and sounds, rhyming, and word reading.
All Kindergarten through 5th grade students take the iReady digital assessment in both reading and mathematics. This is an adaptive test and students receive questions at their level of achievement. Each assessment is broken into content specific sections and teachers use the data to pinpoint areas of need and celebrations.
Every student at Eagle Crest has been learning and growing this year! We use lots of formal and informal data to understand them as learners and to inform our instruction. We look forward to sharing student progress with you at our next round of conferences in the new year. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us.
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students
Eagle Crest Elementary

This training is required for adults who would like to volunteer in our classrooms or chaperone on field trips. While it is only necessary to complete the training once during your child’s time at Eagle Crest, we always welcome previous volunteers who would like a refresh! It will be an opportunity for us to review safety protocols, confidentiality expectations, and some of the routines and procedures in place to help everything run smoothly.
This week we will be offering an additional volunteer training. If you would like to join our volunteer list, please join us tomorrow, December 6th at 2:45pm. This training will be in-person in our STEM Garage.

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! Earlier this year, PTO asked for donations to the staff gratitude fund; your generosity paid for breakfast burritos and fruit for Eagle Crest staff during this month’s late-start. Thank you so much!
