Congratulations to Jamier Rose, the 2025 Mr. Maine Basketball award winner! Making history as the first athlete in Maine to earn both the prestigious James J. Fitzpatrick award and Mr. Maine Basketball in the same academic year, Jamier's exceptional talent and dedication have set a new standard for high school athletics in our state. We couldn't be more proud of his remarkable achievements!
Mary Hurd Academy student Morgan brings joy to kindergarten classrooms as she volunteers her time to support our youngest learners. Here, she helps excited kindergarteners read their Valentine's Day cards, showcasing her dedication to community service and mentorship across our school community!
NMS was selected to host a Maine Learning Technology Initiative SLAM Showcase! SLAM stands for Student Leadership Ambassadors of Maine, and SLAM Showcases are immersive, full-day educational events designed to challenge and engage students. Topics include problem solving, coding, animation, 3D printing, design, robotics, virtual reality, and much more. Students and the school receive prizes at the end of the day, and all topics are taught by Student Leaders and Ambassadors. All NMS 6th graders participated in a high-energy, interactive day of learning on February 24th.
Our ELKS have been RISING all over the building, especially in the cafeteria! Ms. Putnam's, Ms. Mossman's, and Ms. Wurtz's classes won the Golden Spatula and went on an Egyptian adventure lunch where they learned about mummies, pyramids, and hieroglyphics.
The French department recently took 47 Noble High School students on a four-day adventure to Québec City, where they immersed themselves in the language, strolling along narrow cobblestone streets and practicing French in charming cafés and shops. They dove into Québec’s rich culture and history through guided sightseeing and fun, interactive activities. All the while, they marveled at the city’s European feel, making every moment a memorable cultural experience.
During their stay, the students experienced some of Canada’s best winter sports, including tobogganing, tubing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, and curling. They also enjoyed a host of unique activities, such as eating breakfast at the iconic Chateau Frontenac, dancing and playing spoons, and learning about maple syrup production at a traditional Sugar Shack. These adventures allowed them to fully appreciate both the historical and modern aspects of Quebecois life.
Their explorations continued with a tour of the Ice Hotel, attending plays that brought French-Canadian legends to life, and a visit to the striking Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré basilica and Montmorency Falls. The trip was truly unforgettable, and the Noble High School students shone as enthusiastic, adaptable, and respectful global citizens throughout their time in Québec City.
Our Technology Department collaborated with STEAM educators to teach 4th graders across the district essential digital security skills. Students learned how to change their passwords on school devices, why unique passwords matter, and techniques for creating strong new passwords—empowering our young learners with practical cybersecurity knowledge.
Noble Middle School's kitchen staff loves serving up healthy starts to the day with their colorful smoothie bowls! This nutritious breakfast option features mango and banana blends topped with house-made granola, fresh fruit, and coconut. A beautiful and delicious way for our students to fuel their minds and bodies each morning!
Hanson and Lebanon Elementary School's 4th and 5th grade Civil Rights Team members visited our 1st grade classrooms for a special reading session. During their visit, our youngest students learned about the protected categories of civil rights and how the team works to ensure everyone feels safe and welcome in our school. This peer-led initiative demonstrates our commitment to fostering understanding, respect, and inclusion from an early age.
Hussey students channeled their inner inventors with help from Portsmouth Shipyard volunteers! Together, they transformed recycled cardboard into creative and practical solutions like backpacks, watering cans, and more. This collaborative activity taught our young engineers about sustainability and design while building meaningful connections with community partners. Imagination and resourcefulness were on full display as students learned that today's cardboard could become tomorrow's innovation!
