PTA Updates

Ross will hold a Book Fair from January 18-24 with proceeds benefiting our Ross Library! We need parent volunteers to help kids find and buy books, set up materials, and other tasks. The first volunteer shifts are tomorrow (Fri. Jan 13).

Ms. O, our wonderful crossing guard on 17th and R, will be moving on to another role. Tomorrow (Fri, 1/13) will be her last day helping our kids safely cross the street.

Everyone is invited to walk over from Ross at 8:30AM tomorrow to say good-bye as a group. We will have flowers and a card. If your kids would like to bring their own cards or drawings, feel free to do so.

The PTA will be hosting a virtual parent education workshop, open to the Ross community, on the evening of Feb 8th.

Mark your calendars for our 2023 Ross auction fundraiser! ✨This year's theme is Starry Night.✨ The auction and after-party will take place on the night of Saturday, March 18th at Toolbox Pilates & Art Studio (1627 Connecticut Ave NW). This adults-only event is a wonderful opportunity for Ross parents, staff and friends to cut loose and support our school!

Volunteers are needed to help with procurement! If you're able to help, please contact Libby (libbyjanefranklin@gmail.com).

We are collecting donated items for the 2023 Ross silent auction. We are depending on the generosity of this community to pull off our biggest fundraising event of the year!

Can you donate any of the following by February 17th?

• Airline miles or hotel points

• Vacation home rental for a weekend or week

• Home-cooked meal or baked goods

• Lessons for children or adults based on special skills (e.g., dance, sewing, cooking, etc.)

• Tickets to a show / sporting event

• Hosting a party for a special event

• Babysitting services

• Gift cards

Come join fellow Ross students and families for an afternoon at the theatre! We are going to see The Hula Hoopin’ Queen at Imagination Stage on Saturday, March 4th at 1pm!

Book your tickets on the Imagination Stage website and use the code Ross15 for a discount when booking. Tickets are starting to sell out for some shows, so please book now.

For those who want to metro over together, come meet at the Ross playground at 11:45am to walk to the Dupont Circle metro and then metro to the Bethesda station, which is a 0.4 mile walk from Imagination Stage.

After our December volunteer project with Miriam's Kitchen, our contact shared a photo of their Assistant Director of Outreach (below) receiving the boxes full of the supply bags the Ross community helped purchase, sort, and pack!

She went on to write:

"Please let your community know that the items have been greatly appreciated. The team members said it has been nice to be able to hand all the cold weather items in one pack instead of having to rummage through their bags to find one of each thing. I also volunteered in the dining room and saw firsthand how popular the items you donated are.
