The 5 Types of Lines
Lines are used to draw but they can also fill in spaces in a drawing and add texture.
Curvy Lines
Curvy lines are fun - they twist and turn and curl in lots of different directions!
Horizontal Lines
Horizontal Lines go side to side. They can be straight or could zig-zag or curve. If you think about the horizon line (where the sky and ground meet) it will help you remember the word horizontal.
Vertical Lines
Vertical Lines go up and down. They can be straight or could zig-zag or curve.
Zig-Zag Lines
Zig-Zag lines are made of a combination of straight diagonal, vertical, and horizontal lines. Just like curvy lines they go in many different directions.
Diagonal Lines
Diagonal lines are slanted - they look like they are leaning over. They can also be curved or zig-zag a little bit.
