Greetings Dolphin Family,

Welcome back Dolphins! I am so excited to welcome you back to another extraordinary year of teaching and learning. As the summer winds down, our team of leaders, teachers, and support staff are anxiously anticipating welcoming our scholars back to school! Over the next few weeks you will receive information about our "Back to School Block Party" Sneak-A-Peek, and expectations for the first days of school.

Our school day will look and feel different as we will welcome all of our scholars back to school for in-person learning. Differentiating and personalizing instruction will be even more attainable in the face-to-face environment. We have learned so much from the pandemic, and will continue to navigate this school year with an abundance of caution keeping the safety of our students, staff and families at the forefront.

With this being said, we will continue with our carpool procedures implemented during the 2020-2021 school year. Parents/Guardians will be asked to remain in the car during drop off and pick up. There will be no walk-up options for carpool this year. Thus, it is critical that all car rider families adhere to the drop off and pick up times 7:10am-7:35am and 2:20pm-2:45pm daily.

On campus visitation during the school day will be by appointment only to assist with managing the number of people in the building throughout the day. This is another safety measure we are continuing to keep in place for the 2021-2022 school year. Should you wish to schedule an appointment to visit during the school day, please contact the front office to schedule time.

I am looking forward to 100% of our scholars returning to the building next year and am hopeful about experiencing normalcy. It is highly recommended that all students continue to wear masks and maintain social distancing to the extent possible next school year. We will still utilize the virtual (TEAMS) platform for many of our parental engagement activities. I thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we transition back to school safely.

We also highly encourage all scholars to wear school uniforms. Our colors are royal blue, yellow, and white. Scholars may wear royal blue, yellow or white tops, with navy blue or khaki bottoms. I know there is a lot of controversy around uniforms. However, wearing uniforms lends itself to an authentic blending of friend groups and less school disruptions due to dress code. If you choose not to participate in our uniform dress please be sure to adhere to all district and school-wide expectations related to dress code.

All 3rd grade through 5th grade scholars will continue to receive laptops for the school year. Please make sure your scholar takes care of the laptop over the remainder of the summer and brings the device to school on the first day. This device will be used during the upcoming school year. Thank you in advance for ensuring scholars are taking care of the devices loaned to them by the district. If your student receives a notification to update his/her device, please follow the steps for the Windows updates being pushed out by the district.

Our theme for the upcoming school year is "All of Us", understanding that No One of Us is as Good/Great as All of Us! We recognize our scholars have experienced some learning disruption since March of 2020, and it will take ALL OF US, our school, parents and community to recover and regain momentum. We are committed to ensuring our scholars get the education they deserve by putting systems and processes in place to support them. Randolph has been fortunate to acquire new staff to help support all scholars. We certainly will continue to need your support at home.

We are in the process of planning our Back to School event. Again recognizing that while we will be returning to school face-to-face, it is still important to prioritize everyone's health and safety going into the upcoming school year. The schedule for our "Sneak-a-Peek" will be designed to promote a safe, socially distanced environment where you will be able to meet and greet your scholar's teacher, however, access to the building and classrooms will be limited as we err on the side of caution. We will however, ensure that this will be a great opportunity to build relationships with your new teacher and shed last year's challenges. Virtual classroom tours will also be made available to parents before the first day of school.

The first 10 days of school are the most critical days of the school year. These are the dates the district uses to determine if enrollment has met the requirements to keep the entire staff at a school. Please make sure if you have a scholar you have not registered you do so as soon as possible. There will be no class changes prior to the first 10 days of school. All scholars must be accounted for before we consider any class changes. The form to request class changes will be made available after the 10 day window, and class changes are at the discretion of the administrator and are not guaranteed. A. Philip Randolph will be a cashless school during the 2021-2022 school year. All payments will be made through the Online School Payment (OSP) system. Grade-level and class fees and payments will be paid a la carte by activity and each payment must be made through OSP.

Rising 6th graders have an opportunity to experience middle school at Sandtown Middle School this summer. This is only for those rising 6th grade scholars who will attend Sandtown Middle School in the fall. An email was sent to all rising 6th grade parents. You may also see the flyer below for more information. The link for registration and the OSP payment site will open on July 1st.

As you continue to enjoy your summer vacation, please encourage your child(ren) to read and engage in some academic activity each day. Remind our scholars that they can still access classlink and iReady over the course of the summer. On July 31, Fulton County Schools will host its fifth annual Back-to-School Pep Rally in two locations at North Springs and Banneker High Schools. First Day Fulton is the district's initiative for early registration during the summer.

First Day Fulton helps families get their students ready for school by offering early student registration, school supplies and a chance to learn more about various school departments, available support services and community programs. The event provides students and parents the resources necessary to begin school on the first day of learning.

Parents are encouraged to register their students in order to avoid long lines, or multiple visits to local schools in August to complete registrations. New students, students who have moved, homeless students, and those who are transitioning to the next school level, should be registered prior to the first day of school. Students transitioning to the next grade do not have to register for the event. However, they are welcome to come to the event for free supplies and to take advantage of the community resources.

Parents and guardians can receive free food, prizes, and school supplies as they register new students or students changing schools. Entertainment, community vendors, and fun activities are also included. Parents will be asked to bring the last report card or student identification in order to receive school supplies and be eligible for prize drawings.

Do you have a PreK scholar or Kindergarten scholar? Do you know someone new to the area that has children in this age group? If so, please invite them to enroll at Randolph Elementary School. We have spaces available in PreK and Kindergarten. Both our PreK and Kindergarten teams have energetic and creative teachers and paraprofessionals who go the extra mile for our smallest learners.

Registration is on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 8am-1pm. We are always accepting new Dolphins! If you have questions about registration please contact us at 470-254-6520 and ask for Ms. Blake or Ms. Johnson. They are waiting and willing to assist you with registration.

We had a very unique school year last year. Despite challenges and over half of our school population learning from home, our scholars performed very well.

I-Ready Reading Goal for SY20-21: 60% of K-5 scholars will score at Tier I as measured by I-Ready Reading Diagnostic by May of 2021.

We exceeded our reading goal by one percentage point. Congratulations to all our scholars for working so hard. Although we did not reach our math goal, we came pretty close and certainly improved by almost 20% from the beginning of the year results.

"Everybody Reads" is a campaign to get all scholars reading on grade level. The district is investing a lot of dollars to ensure scholars are reading. Many parents wonder how they may be a part of this movement. Here are some tips:

• Read to your child every day
• Practice sight words
• Practice letters and their sounds
• Ensure your child reads at least 30 minutes a day
• Ask your child questions about what they are reading

Student Arrival: 7:10 a.m.

• Students are not permitted to wait inside or outside of the building without supervision; students must remain in their vehicles, if dropped off, until 7:10 a.m. No students are permitted on campus prior to approved student arrival times.

Student Dismissal: 2:20 p.m.

• Dismissal begins promptly at 2:20 p.m. Early checkouts must occur prior to 2:00 p.m. Students are engaged in learning the last 20 minutes of school, and may not be checked out after 2:00 p.m. Parents are encouraged to ensure proper planning is in place for dismissal

UNIFORM POLICY 2021-2022

*Uniforms are highly encouraged to wear to school every day; Wednesdays are College Days and Fridays of each week are spirit days!

• The standard school uniform consists of a polo top and khaki or navy skirts, shorts or pants. A logo patch is optional, but are not required

  • Khaki bottoms are preferred with uniform tops, however, jeans are allowed to be worn with uniform tops, as well. *No frayed or ripped jeans are allowed*

• Uniforms are worn on Monday – Thursday.
• Wednesday is College Day! Students may wear a college shirt!
• Every Friday is Spirit Wear and Free Dress Day. ****

ABSOLUTELY NO SHREDDED, RIPPED OR FRAYED JEANS/JACKETS ARE ALLOWED. *NO CROP TOPS OR TANK TOPS ALLOWED

CAR RIDER INFORMATION/PRE-REGISTER FOR YOUR CAR RIDER NUMBER:

All students who will be car-riders will receive a new car rider number for the new school year; tags will be placed in the car window for a more efficient car-rider process.

All car riders must have a registration form on file. This year, we kindly request all parents to complete the online form by using the link below. The process is very simple and will allow for a more effective process. Please complete the car-rider registration form online and someone from our office will email you with your confirmed car-rider tag information. The car-rider form will open on July 15, 2021.

Our summer office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Our data clerk, Ms. Blake, will be available to process Registrations and Withdrawals on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.

Our office will be closed for Registration and Withdrawal the weeks of June 18 -July 11, 2021.

Our "Sneak-A-Peek" Open House will be a little different this year. We are welcoming our Dolphins back "Block Party" style. In our efforts to stress the importance of safety and to maintain a safe social distance, we are going to meet and greet outside on the bus ramp. There will be no building or classroom tours during this event.

Every family will have the opportunity to meet your classroom teacher, receive transportation information and meet with our after school care providers, as well as join PTA and meet members of the SGC. Several vendors will be on site as well.

Please adhere to the grade level times listed on the flyer and below in order for us to successfully accommodate all families while maintaining a safe environment.

Families with students in multiple grade levels are asked to join us near the end of the youngest scholar's Meet & Greet window if at all possible to ensure the opportunity to meet with teachers across grade levels. Our goal is to do our best to accommodate all families in the safest way possible while having a fun-filled time welcoming our Dolphins back to school.

Parking will be located in the parking lots to the left of the school. No parking will be available in the upper lots of the school due to vending or along the side driveway to avoid ticketing.

Directional signage will be posted for an orderly flow of traffic. Please adhere to the signage when you arrive.

There will be opportunities to meet with administrative team members during the Meet & Greet. Be reminded that no schedule change requests will be considered until after the first 10 days of school.

For those families who are unable to attend in person or who would prefer a virtual option, classroom teachers' virtual tour and informational links will be shared with our Dolphin family immediately following the Sneak-A-Peek Block Party.
