Spring is on it's way!

We continue to work hard during our school day and soon you can check your child's progress! Report cards will be available on Monday, March 17th. Please keep in mind that although final grades are released through the report cards, you can always check your child's progress by logging in through Parent Portal. Remember that we no longer mail home report cards. You must log on to Parent Portal to see your child's progress. If you ever need help logging on, please let us know so that we can assist you.

On another note, the Board of Education approved some changes to the upcoming school schedule. There will be three half-days (early dismissal) coming soon. The three days with early dismissal will be on March 12th, 14th, and 19th. Please mark your calendars for these days.

For those of you who have scheduled conferences with your teacher, those meetings will take place on March 12th.

For a number of years, we have be "Marching into Reading". We spend the month of March highlighting the importance of reading for our students. This year, we will have multiple activities planned for our students including:

-Author Day where we will be visited by children's book author, Lenny Hort

-Guest Readers - Many of our classrooms will be visited by guest readers throughout the month

-Buddy Reading - Our older students will pair up with younger students to read together

-Starbooks Cafe - Each class will visit our Starbooks Cafe to enjoy a book tasting, along with a cup of hot cocoa.

-Dr. Seuss readings and activities

-Dress Up days (dates and themes above)

Thank you for supporting our Popcorn Fundraiser!! Our school profited over $11,000!!! This money goes into our Home and School Association and Student Government to pay for items such as Field Day, Fun Day, Assemblies, t-shirts, 5th grade Graduation and activities, and more! Our Student Government has also made it a goal to purchase a bench or two for our playground and some of this fundraiser will go towards helping them to be successful.

We have some wonderful artists in our School #4 family!!

Garfield High School recently visited our school to give a preview of their newest production, Frozen Jr! Our students loved the songs and were singing right along! Garfield Elementary school students will also have a discounted price of $5. Please support our high school students (many of whom are School #4 alumni).

Garfield Middle School is holding a Tricky Tray for anyone who may interested.

At School #4, we always aim to have high attendance! After last year, it is very important that we improve upon student attendance, which includes being on time to school! Although the school year seems long, there is so much that we have to cover each year and in every grade. Missing just a little bit of time can have a large impact on our student's academic and social success

The district is requiring that all students be re-registered this year. REgistration is now open and must be completed by July 1st. Please see the link below to read a letter from our superintendent, Dr. Tomko.
