Pretty unusual but totally royal!!!
Wearing crowns is just a part of a regular day at GQES as well as a bit of a mystery for our students. It may have been an unexpected surprise! They'd ask, "Why are you wearing a crown today?" Teachers work hard every day, so one day of royalty is fun and well-deserving!!!
A new incentive!!!
Dribbling is good coordination practice!
Teaching students how to work hard!
WE have fun at GQES!!!
Dressing up in fun attire, like wear your favorite holiday for teachers really had our students talking and guessing! Ms. Helms rocked the green hair!!!
More holiday attire fun!!!
We represented and wore a whole lot of fun holidays---shout out to Ms Cockrell for organizing some fun dress up days for our teachers!
Wow! We really followed the plan!!!
Just for fun and to see how observant our students were----we dressed in all black for one day last week. Ofcourse, our students noticed and asked us:)!
We enjoy having Dr. Karen Huff from Shenandoah University at our school!!!
Dr. Karen Huff teaches a group of teachers-to-be from Shenandoah University weekly as they learn more about literacy practices with students in our building! We so enjoy her work!!!
Students get a chance to see inside!!!
We enjoy learning!!!
Buckle up!
Yes, we saw some fantastic creatures!!!
Shout out to Blue Ridge WildLife Rescue for coming to our school and showing us these wonderful creatures and how to best care for them in their natural environments.

Week 15: 11/18/24-11/22/24
Dear GQES Families,
At Garland R. Quarles Elementary School, we understand the importance of guiding children toward making good decisions while fostering independence and responsibility. One approach we encourage is Parenting the Love and Logic Way, a proven method that combines love, empathy, and logical consequences to help children learn from their choices. This approach not only helps children grow emotionally and socially but also nurtures stronger parent-child relationships.
If you would like to learn more about this empowering parenting philosophy, Shelley Nielans, a certified Love and Logic facilitator from Winchester, VA, is an excellent resource. Shelley can provide insights and strategies to help you implement this approach at home. You can reach her at 901-218-6160 or via email at snielans@gmail.com. We encourage you to explore this program to support your children in becoming resilient and responsible individuals.
