News from Mr. Culbreth
Warrior Family,
It's the most wonderful time of the year! The holiday season brings upon us time to enjoy with our friends and family, including our Warrior Tribe! We continue to hear many great things from students, parents, and community members about the work being done at Lakeview Middle. We want to encourage you to continue to engage and partner with us to provide the best education possible for our students. We know that when parents and the community are involved, the likelihood of student success increases. So, please review the opportunities we have upcoming and contact us if you are interested in being involved in any way.
Just as a reminder, semester exams are scheduled for December 19th and 20th. Attendance WILL be a determining factor in deciding if your student is exempt from exams. The exemption policy is as follows for each class:
3 unexcused absences with an A.
2 unexcused absences with a B.
1 unexcused absence with a C.
Students that have to take their semester exams, will have the opportunity to be dismissed after their exams each day. Students must provide their own transportation if they are leaving early on exam days. Buses will run at their regular time on exam days. Students that remain at school after exams will be involved in grade-level study halls.
We have some exciting events coming up in December as well. Our winter sports teams are in full swing and experiencing success on the court and the mats. I want to encourage you to come out and support our Warriors. We know that we have families in our community in need during the holiday season. The Catoosa County Sheriff's Office sponsors the Stocking Full of Love each year to help provide presents to children of Catoosa County who may be less fortunate than others. Lakeview Middle will serve as a drop-off location for Stocking Full of Love. Please consider donating by bringing items to LMS for Stocking Full of Love.
Please remember that Christmas break will be December 23th - January 6th.
As always, I want to encourage you to communicate with the school any time you have questions or concerns. We know that student success increases when there is a strong relationship between the school and the home. Please do not hesitate to email me at mculbreth@catoosa.k12.ga.us when you have questions and/or concerns.

Nurse Notes
Hello Warriors:
My hope is that this finds everyone doing well. The clinic seems to be getting hit with lots of complaints, from A-Z! There is strep throat and a virus of some sort going around at this time. Please remember that with a virus, it's basically "treat-the-symptoms" and let it run its course, but please follow your healthcare provider's instructions. Your child can be at school as long as he/she is fever-free and vomit-free > 24 hours without taking any meds.
A good reminder for some tips to stay well are as follows:
- wash hands frequently
- use hand sanitizer
- keep hands out of mouth/off the face
- use some social distancing and not be in someone's face
- get plenty of rest, water, and exercise
I hope everyone is able to relax and enjoy this holiday season!
Please be in touch if you have questions or concerns.
