Principal's Message
Dear NMS Families,
This has been quite the year at NMS. In reflection, we have dealt with some very unexpected challenges. The strength of the NMS community to pull together to support one another cannot be understated. Each year as we collectively work to do better and be better, it is important to stop and acknowledge the growth that has occurred as well. Each year we end stronger than we started. All of the NMS community members contribute to this growth and success.
Our unsung heroes truly keep the NMS afloat. Thank you to the cafeteria crew for serving hundreds of lunches in approximately 10 minutes, three times a day for 180 days! The custodial crew takes great care of this beautiful building that looks almost as new as the day it opened in 1999. Our office staff are able to juggle so many balls to keep us moving forward with a smile.
Thank you to our families for the partnership with all of the NMS educators to ensure your students meet each day with success. Thank you to the educators for believing in the best of our students and finding ways to help the students shine.
Most importantly thank you to the students. You inspire us to be more creative, to think in different ways and to be the best version of ourselves for you. Your accomplishments are our accomplishments. Your success is our success. Your smiles and sense of humor keep us on our toes.
Have a happy, safe and healthy summer!
Dr. Tucker
Student Activities
Youthworks
We are so proud of our 8th grade students who participated in the pilot Youthworks program this year. Youthworks Project is a program designed to empower and engage young individuals in meaningful community service and personal development activities. This exposure to a career track and workforce has served as a positive incentive for students to increase attendance and participate in academics. Our very own NMS students have helped build school play sets, a new sign for the gym entrance, and have helped out at a local farm. Thank you again for all of your hard work this year!

Interpretations of land
The level of artistry our students have shown this year rivals that of the most famous artists. Students completed various interpretations of land, each with a different view and approach. We are so impressed by the talents of our students.
Mini-Museum
The sixth and seventh grade students participated in a mini-museum brought to the NMS library. Students went on a scavenger hunt through the various exhibits. A highlight was the students being able to touch and wear artifacts.
Grade 6 K9 Dog Presentation
The Plymouth County Sherriff's Office brought several of their working dogs to the sixth grade. The students learned about the specialized roles each dog has been trained to do. The Officers presented on the disposition of the dog, the training requited to be a therapy dog, drug dog, or to do bite work.

Students signed one another's yearbook while having a grade level breakfast together.

Title I Parent's Right to Know
Dear Parent or Guardian:
The federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires districts to annually notify parents/guardians of students who attend Title I schools that they may request information regarding certain professional qualifications of the student's classroom teacher(s):
Whether your child's teacher is licensed in the grade levels and subject areas they teach
Whether your child's teacher is teaching under an emergency license or waiver
The college degree and major of your child's teacher
Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications
In Middleborough, the MECC, HBB. MKG and Nichols receive Title I funds. All classroom teachers in the Middleborough Public Schools, including our Title I Schools, have Massachusetts teaching licenses and certification appropriate to their grade level and teaching assignment, and are highly qualified according to federal standards for teacher quality.
If you have any questions, please contact Terri Marculitis at tmarculitis@middleboro.k12.ma.us
Sincerely,
Dr. Marculitis

Late Bus:
There are four late buses. In the cafeteria, where students gather prior to boarding, there are four books with addresses. Each book tells the students which bus they board based on their address. The bus passes given to the driver has your student's address. This allows the driver to make sure students are able to make it home appropriately.
