The Annual Men's Fest is fast approaching and will take place at Austin High School on November 16th. We will leave campus around 11:30 am and stop for lunch on the way to AHS. Students will rehearse all afternoon and perform a concert at 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend this free concert. Please note, that this is a required, major grade for all tenor-bass students. However, in order to participate in this special event, students must meet the following requirements:

1. Students must be academically eligible. If they passed their classes on the 1st 9 Weeks Report Card, they are academically eligible and able to perform. If students did not pass, they needed to pass all classes on the 3 week Progress Check.
2. Students must have no discipline referrals this semester. Referrals for tardies are exempt.

Students who do not meet the above criteria will have a scheduled make-up date to perform their music and earn a grade.

Congratulations to our 9 students who participated in this weekend's Region Choir Clinic/Concert! They had the opportunity to work with two fabulous clinicians this weekend (Dr. Allen Hightower from UNT and Mrs. Janwin Overstreet-Goude, retired from Friendswood HS). They spent Friday afternoon working on the next round of music and then spent all of Saturday rehearsing and preparing for a concert Saturday night. We are SO proud of these students who worked so diligently and efficiently for this awesome experience!

On Thursday, December 7th we will be taking an optional field trip to the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts to see the Theatre Under the Stars Production of Cinderella. This will be a fun evening for the students to get dressed up and see a professional musical production at a great price of $30/ticket. Family members are also welcome to attend at the same price per ticket. Our generous Booster Club will provide a bus for students and official chaperones. Any additional family members will need to provide their own transportation downtown. You can self-park at the Hobby Center Garage for $15 or find other parking arrangements.

In order to attend, students must meet the following criteria:

1. Student is currently enrolled as a THS Choir Member
2. Student has not had any behavior referrals this semester (tardy referrals are exempt)
3. Student has turned in all necessary forms and paperwork from the beginning of the year
4. Student has fully paid the THS Choir Fee

If your child is planning to attend, all money and permission forms MUST be turned in by NOVEMBER 15th. Unfortunately, I will not be able to accept any additional seats or provide refunds after this date.

Please fill out the permission form below for your child and be sure to mark how many tickets you will need. We are only able to accept cash or check for this event. Please be sure to send the money to school promptly after completing the form to confirm seat reservations.

Itinerary for December 7th

Arrive at school for pre-show meeting: 5:20 pm

Bus departs at 5:45 pm

Show time: 7:30 pm

Return to campus between 10:30-11 pm

The response to our Fall Fundraiser has been INCREDIBLE and I am SO grateful to everyone's participation in this for our Booster Club. The fundraiser finishes this Wednesday (11/8). If your child has not reached out to any donors yet, please encourage them to TRY. That is all I ask. I am not pushing or forcing students to keep asking, but I am asking each student to make an effort since EVERY student will have the opportunity to benefit from our donations in some form.

Some of the incentives students were given (and some achieved) include:

Individual Prizes:

• For every $250, students will get a throw to pie Mr. Miner in the face at a TBD date
• If a student brings in $500, they will get a free ticket to the "Cinderella" field trip

Group Prizes:

• $2,500 (ACHIEVED!): Donut Party
• $4,000 (ACHIEVED!): Breakfast Taco Party this week!
• $5,000 (ACHIEVED!): No Schoology Assignment for 1 Week
• $10,000 (ACHIEVED!): Mr. Miner teaches a day with crazy colored hair
• $15,000: Free Friday in Choir (Or class decided prize)

Now that our year is in full-swing, I'd like to again remind parents that in order to volunteer you MUST have the FBISD Background check completed. We will be needing volunteers for social events, trips, and assistance during contests and concerts, so PLEASE consider filling out this form as soon as possible to ensure the district office has time to process it. All choirs are working diligently on their Christmas music and preparing for community performances.

Schoology lessons over the next 9 weeks will focus on music literacy and teaching students how to read music and identify note names on the different clefs. Each week will cover a specific set of notes beginning with the treble clef lines.

Graduation for Travis has been announced to take place on Thursday, May 23rd at 7:30 pm at the new Fort Bend Epicenter. This is a required performance for all Chorale students so please be sure to mark your calendars now. Transportation will be provided for students.

Choir fees are now past due but you can still pay in installments via Revtrak. For a description of choir fees, please see the document on the choir website under the "Documents" tab. You can find the RevTrak link below or via the choir website under "Choir Fees." Students need to have their full choir fee paid in order to take their uniform home.
