This was the week of the teacher and staff as we celebrated our teachers this week with a culminating celebration of Tustin Connect's 2024 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Fairburn. In addition to the celebration, we also had some great events through our Hope Squad program as well as our Senior Breakfast. It was a full week of awesomeness!

Principal's Message...
What a wonderful week of celebrations. We got to celebrate our Seniors with a wonderful Senior Breakfast and Movie thanks to our senior committee, Hope Squad Activities, and Teacher/Staff Celebration. I'm so grateful for our amazing staff, students, and families. We have a very special school and it's my honor to be able to serve as its principal.

Spirit Days: In Mrs. McCourtney's room this week it's your favorite decade dress up.
Walking Field Trip 5/29: After class on our last Wednesday, we will have an optional walking field trip to Old Town Tustin. We will visit the Farmer's Market and bookstore. Students are welcome to bring money to make purchases and we would love any parent volunteers to help chaperone. The permission form is linked.
Library Books: Reminder, please bring any library books back this week as the library is now closed.
K-6 Awards and 5th-grade promotion: Please save the date on 5/22 for our awards ceremony and promotion! We will have a family picnic from 11:30-12:00, followed immediately by promotion and awards from 12-12:30.

8th Grade Knott's Trip: Be on the lookout for final details on the end-of-year 8th grade field trip to Knott's Berry Farm. A big thank you to our 8th-grade planning committee. They have been awesome and are working diligently to make sure the end of year and end of Middle School Career is special.
8th Grade Classes for Next Year: The majority of course requests have been inputted for the 24/25 school year. They are in the course request section. If your student is leaving the TUSD school district be sure that you contact the school and get your course requests in.
Device Collection: All 8th graders and any students that will be leaving TUSD next year, will need to turn in their devices at promotion for 8th graders and the Wednesday of the final academic week (May 29) for 6th/7th graders.

Graduation Details: Attention all seniors and families of seniors, please take a moment to check out all of the details including reporting times, parking, tickets (you don't need any), and more.
Attention Juniors and Seniors: The staff at Legacy Magnet Academy has graciously invited our students to be a part of their Junior and Senior Prom. Included is a flyer that provides information for students to purchase tickets online (www.lmaasb.org) or checks can be made out to Legacy Magnet Academy ASB. Students will need to submit a permission slip as well. Please let Mr. Fineberg or the office know if you are interested in attending.
Great Opportunity for Summer ROP Courses: There are a number of great virtual course offerings available to our high school students this summer. Please take a moment to check them out. Hello Maverick Families,
We had a great week of celebrating our teachers and staff. We had lots of treats, snacks, and culminating in a luncheon on Friday. We appreciate our staff and were happy to be able to show them.
We need your help! After an incredible 3 year run and countless hours of support and activity, Mrs. McBride will be completing her final year as PTA President at the end of the month. With that being said, we need you🫵🫵🫵🫵🫵 as our next PTA President. With a vacancy in the position for next year, we are looking for someone to step into the role. Please consider doing so as it is an amazing way to give to the school.

Mrs. Wijnhamer had her baby! Aubrey Marie was born 6 lbs. 9 oz. So cute! family. As a reminder, while Mrs. W is out, Mrs. Harding will be supporting our students and families. Her email is bharding@tustin.k12.ca.us.

Free Online Tutoring Available for K-12 Students
Brainfuse HelpNow is an on demand, anytime, anywhere eLearning platform available for all ages and levels. Last week, it was announced that every Californian can now access free online tutoring available 24/7 through a new initiative offering homework help in every K-12 subject and skill-building resources for K-12 and adult learners.
Real-time homework assistance can now be accessed 24/7 here and on the websites of any of the 1,130 local public libraries around the state – click on the “HelpNow” link to reach a one-on-one tutor. The pilot program led by the State Library offers assistance in Math, Language Arts, and other core K-12 subjects in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. There’s no age limit to who can use the service. Adult learners can also access writing assistance, citizenship resources and other tools.

TUSD Resource Sora Summer Read
Sora Sweet Reads in an annual summer reading program designed for schools to encourage students to keep reading all year long. "Check out" the free collection of simultaneous use juvenile and young adult ebooks (and select audiobooks).
Login to Sora to access these and many any other great ebooks and audiobooks all summer long through Clever, TUSD Student Portal or soraapp.com using your TUSD Google login and password.
