Just In Case Clothes
Parents - Please make sure you pack a change of clothes (that are weather appropriate) in your child's backpack EVERY DAY. This is for ALL students, grades JK-4th, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or loose a tooth, or spill food/milk on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have a bathroom accident. If your student keeps a change of clothing in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we need you to bring up a change of clothes. Thank you for your cooperation.
📚The Hornung Free Book Table is Back! 📚
Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to choose a book or two from the Hornung FREE BOOK table. We opened the table today ahead of the Thanksgiving break and encouraged classes to stop by and look for a book to take home. The books will be out through Tuesday of next week, so encourage your student to stop by and pick a book.
If your family has outgrown any fiction or nonfiction, picture books, leveled readers, chapter books, graphic novels, or anything in between, please consider donating them for the free book table. All book donations can be left in the office or dropped off on the front counter of the library labeled “Free book table.” Thank you for your consideration and for supporting Hornung readers!

Join us for Santa Visits on December 15th!
Recently, one of our first grade students was diagnosed with childhood cancer, specifically leukemia. This type of leukemia that Elouise has is treatable and the outcome looks very good. Elouise has already been receiving treatments. Mrs. Hoard and her sister have created this event to help support Elouise and her family as they navigate through this tough time.
Come on out to Rustic Marine Farm, visit with Santa, take your own family photos, mingle with Suzie and some of your favorite teachers, enjoy some hot chocolate, enter raffles or purchase some baked goods. All proceeds will go directly to Elouise and her family.

Reporting Your Student's Absence in Parent Connect
There is a helpful feature in Parent Connect that allows you to enter your student’s absence. Simply log into parent connect and click on the link Report Absence. The Report Absence link will open a screen for you to complete. If you have more than one student check the name of the student for whom an absence is being submitted. Add the applicable dates. If you check the All Day flag attendance will be submitted for the am and pm periods. If you do not check the All Day flag times must be entered and attendance will be submitted for whichever periods meet during the time range (based on period schedule). If you use Parent Connect to report your child's absence you do not need to call the attendance line.
Friendly Reminder - Therapy Dog
We wanted to share a friendly reminder to our families about pets on school grounds. Because our school has a therapy dog, we ask that non-service animals be kept at home. This is for the safety of our therapy dog, Suzie. When Suzie is at school she is trained to do a job. When other dogs are on the property during school hours it is distracting for her and/or could put her in potential danger.
Thank you for understanding.
