As we embark on this journey together, our theme this year is "Unlocking Potential, the AVID Way"! At Lemira, we believe that every scholar has the key to success within them, and through AVID, we are dedicated to unlocking potential that lies within each individual scholar. Together, we will continue to make Lemira great!
Announcements
1. Title One Parent University
- Come join us Thursday, October 3rd for our annual Fall Title One Parent University
- This event is open to all parents and students in grades PreK - 5th.
- Come learn valuable information - See attached flyer
- Our first grade classes will perform.
- Refreshments Served and Door Prizes
- Homework Passes will be presented for student/parent attendees
2. ESteam Festival
- Lemira is excited to partipate in the Sumter County ESteam Festival, Saturday October 5th.
- This event will be held downtown Sumter.
- Lemira's Percussion Ensemble and Chorus will particpate in the parade and stage performance.
- The Student Council will present a hands-on activity at our STEM booth. Come visit us!
3. Upcoming School Closures:
- Half Day Student Attendance (School based PD for staff) - Thursday, Oct. 10th - School will dismiss at 11am. Please send changes in the mode of transportation in writing. Please place in students' blue communication folder.
- Full Day No Student Attendance - (District PD for Staff) - No school for students Friday, Oct. 11th.
- Fall Break - No Student or Staff Attendance (10/14 and 10/15) School will resume Wed. Oct. 16
4. September PBIS Spirit Week:
- Our second PBIS Monitoring Period is underway!
- The monitoring period will run through Wednesday, October 9.
- Students who are referral free during this monitoring period will be able to attend our PBIS Celebration on Thursday, October 10.
- Our next PBIS Spirit Week will be October 7-10.

5. Title One October Events Flyer will be sent by Wed. of this week.
6. Qtr. 1 Report Cards will be issued Oct. 18.
7. CoGAT Testing for 2nd Graders will take place Monday, Oct. 7th.
Title One Parent Reading Corner:
10/2 The first Wednesday in October is National Random Acts of Poetry Day.
- Poetry helps with skills such as rhyme, syllables, alliteration, and much more. Write a poem with your scholar and leave it in a random place for someone to find, or share your favorite poem in social media.
Title One Parent SEL Tips:
Educational research makes it clear. All parents can help their children achieve more in school. To help your child do well in school:
- Let your child know you expect them to achieve. Set high, but realistic goals.
- Establish a daily routine for family meals, homework and chores.
- Stress that school success comes with hard work.
- Monitor your child after school activities.
- Be firm and set clear rules and consequences for breaking them.
