College Application Week: October 21-27
Hey Seniors!
A lot of you are asking about the different decision types on your college applications. Below is information on the different choices that you may have when applying.
Early Action: most commonly is non-binding: you are indicating to a college (or more than one) that you are very interested. You apply early and find out early.
Early Decision: is a binding agreement between you and a college of which you agree that you WILL attend that college should they offer you admission.
Regular decision: it is usually a later deadline to submit your application and typically you find out anywhere from December to early March.
Rolling Admission: means colleges respond to applicants as the applications come in instead of waiting until a particular deadline.
October 1st (tomorrow) begins the Countdown to College month for CFNC! Please see the information below. They have great resources for you and your family. CFNC is hosting several virtual information nights as well as a virtual college fair. Remember you can apply to many colleges through CFNC for FREE October 21-27. I will be sending the list of colleges as soon as it is released.
Let your school counselor know if you have any questions, thank you!

CTE: The Real World Northeastern
On October 2nd a few CTE students traveled to Camp Cale to attend The Real World Northeastern. Students had workshops on banking and insurance as well as a rotation through Real World Booths. Students were given a salary and the possibility of a family and then asked to budget their money at each booth. They were required to use their income to rent or buy a house, find a form of transportation, and pay for utilities, groceries and a phone. As they were budgeting “life happened” with an unexpected positive or negative surprise and they might even get a traffic violation they hadn’t planned for. Students also had the opportunity to budget for childcare, clothes, gifts, and pets. This was a great hands on experience for our students and we appreciate NC Works, Northeastern Workforce Development Board and Next Gen for all they did to host such an incredible event!
