Free Books for Your School Library

100 Free Books for Your School Library
The RI Office of Library and Information Services is pleased to share that your school library has been selected to receive 100 free books from the Brownstone Book Fund. The Brownstone Book Fund selects 100 libraries to receive 100 books for youth to foster a love of books and reading. This year, the Brownstone Book Fund worked with the Office of Library and Information Services to identify 100 RI elementary, middle, and high school libraries to receive this gift.
In the next week you will receive a letter from Diane Brownstone, director of the Brownstone Book Fund, outlining this project in greater detail.
About the Books
Your school library will be receiving a set of 100 books appropriate for the age group served by your school. Books were selected by a group of RI school and public librarians with an emphasis on new, high interest titles that reflect our state's diverse student population. Elementary school sets include the 2022 RI Children's Book Award nominees, middle school sets include the 2022 RI Middle School Book Award nominees, and high school sets include the 2022 RI Teen Book Award nominees. All sets include the 2022 RI Latino Book Award nominees.
Below is a title list spreadsheet with a tab for each age group. Please note that substitutions may be made depending on the availability of certain titles.
Book sets will arrive from Brodart and each book will have book jacket covers and a basic MARC record. Diane Brownstone will provide you with stickers to affix to the inside of each book for acknowledging the donation.
What's Next
You need to do nothing to accept this donation. The Brownstone Foundation just asks that you promote the book set and submit a brief questionnaire after students have had the opportunity to engage with the books. Brodart is currently preparing to ship book sets and you will receive a letter in the mail from Diane Brownstone in the next week.
If you have any questions about the project, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Library and Information Services.
Happy reading!
