Walk Bike Frankfort
In an attempt to promote more walking, biking and rolling (roller skates, scooters, skate boards and wheelchairs) to Second Street School, Walk Bike Frankfort joined forces with Frankfort Independent Schools and The King Center to organize an event that brought kids, parents and neighbors together to celebrate the new school year. All participants met at The King Center at 7:00 a.m. on Friday August 9th to journey to school together. According to Marianna Colten, Walk Bike Frankfort Board Member ... " a strong sense of community was felt with lots of smiles and laughter among the participants that joined in the event". It is the hope of the event organizers that the Walk Bike and Roll to School can be a more regular event and increase the number of kids and parents that want to participate.

Important and Repeat News
Tardy to School
Administration will have yellow and red flags on Monday. If you see a yellow flag, your child has 60 seconds to get into the building. Once you see the red flag the front office door will be locked and and your child will need to buzz into the office. They will receive a tardy note from the front desk and then proceed to class.
- "Playground" doors will continue to open at 7:15 a.m.
- At 7:40 a.m. administration will have students enter through the front office, as usual.
- At 7:44 a.m. yellow flag will be raised.
- 7:45 a.m front door will lock and red flag will raise.
Your child MUST be in the building by 7:45 a.m. to not be considered tardy. Getting out of the car at 7:45 a.m. does not count!
Administration will provide extra time if deemed necessary for heavy traffic or rain
Tardy to Class?
5th-8th Grade
If a student is 1-4 minutes late they will be considered tardy and it will be documented on a school-based data platform. When a student receives their third tardy it will result in a after-school detention. Your child could make it in the building by 7:45am and still be late to class! Please get to school early enough that you are providing your child travel time in the hallways!
