A Message From Mr. Lynch
We’ve had a wonderful week at Brimfield Elementary! Our students have been engaged in celebrating Right to Read Week, exploring the joy of reading, and discovering new stories. Additionally, we’ve been learning about inclusivity and how we can continue fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone in our school community.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for the Shamrock Shuffle next Friday! We can’t wait for this fun event and hope to see many of our families participating.
Thank you for your ongoing support—we appreciate you!
Counselors Corner
Dear Families,
It is important to remember that test-taking is not just about what you know—it's about how you approach the challenge. Whether it’s a math test, reading assessment, or any other exam, helping your child feel confident and prepared can make all the difference.
Here are some helpful strategies for students to perform at their best:
1. Get Plenty of Rest
A good night’s sleep is one of the best ways to ensure your brain is ready to perform. Encourage your child to rest well the night before a test, so they wake up feeling refreshed and alert.
2. Eat a Healthy Breakfast
A balanced meal in the morning helps fuel the brain. Try to include protein, whole grains, and fruit to give your child energy and focus throughout the test.
3. Stay Calm & Confident
Test anxiety is real, but it's important to approach the test with a positive mindset. Teach your child to take deep breaths, stay calm, and remember they’ve been preparing for this moment.
4. Read Carefully
Before answering questions, encourage your child to read each one carefully. Taking a moment to think about the question before answering can help avoid mistakes and boost accuracy.
5. Time Management
Remind your child to pace themselves. If they’re stuck on a question, it’s okay to move on and come back to it later. Managing time effectively can help prevent rushing at the end.
6. Ask for Help
If your child doesn’t understand a question, encourage them to ask for clarification. It's okay to ask for help during the test—teachers are there to support!
7. Do Your Best, But Don’t Stress
Most importantly, remind your child that they don’t need to be perfect. It’s about doing their best, not stressing about the outcome. Celebrate the effort, no matter what!
How You Can Support at Home:
- Encourage Open Communication: Talk with your child about how they’re feeling before the test. Offer support and reassurance.
- Create a Calm Environment: Help your child stay calm by practicing relaxation techniques at home. Deep breathing, stretching, or even a short walk can help calm nerves.
- Stay Positive: Remind your child that testing is just one way to show what they know—it doesn’t define who they are!
We know our students work hard, so let’s support them in feeling confident and doing their best when it counts.
Warm regards,
Brandon Berry

PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach designed to foster a positive school climate by encouraging appropriate behavior. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing clear behavioral expectations in a consistent and structured way. PBIS emphasizes prevention rather than punishment, using data to identify and support students who may need additional help. By recognizing and rewarding positive behavior, PBIS aims to improve student engagement, reduce disciplinary issues, and create a more inclusive, respectful learning environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.
At Brimfield Elementary, students help to identify positive expectations and receive incentives for appropriate behavior. Your child may be chosen to participate in the Principal’s Club, receive a red SOAR ticket, or earn a Principal’s Good News call. The staff at Brimfield works hard to use positive words with students. Instead of telling a child to “stop running” in the hallway, the direction might be to “move throughout the halls in a controlled and safe manner”. Thank you, in advance, for partnering with us and using positive statements with your child. We are very proud of our PBIS program and look forward to celebrating the great behavior of our young Falcons!
