Dear Llewellyn Families,
I want to take a moment to thank you for your participation in the Successful Schools Survey earlier this year. Your feedback is invaluable, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. One of our greatest strengths as a school community is our commitment to academics—over 90% of educators, students, and families have a positive outlook on our academic programming! Everyday walking through the classrooms and hallways of our school, students are highly engaged, asking questions and learning to be independent critical thinkers. I love seeing this!
Also, 72% of families who responded indicated that the classroom lessons at our school are motivating for your children. This is a 13% increase from last year! Our teachers are working hard to incorporate the new curriculum adoptions-- making them culturally relevant and responsive to all of our students academic, as well as their social emotional needs.
In addition, 91% of you reported that children are enjoying going to school-- this is a 7% increase from last year. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to further support your student-- we want everyone to feel successful and happy at school.
I am so grateful to be apart of the Llewellyn community-- we are full of superstars, our staff, our families and of course, our students!
💙⭐,
Principal Collins
Spring After School Classes
Llewellyn Community -----
Llewellyn's Afterschool Enrichment Program is recruiting for new classes/instructors for the spring session!!!
We are looking for parents in our community to help host "clubs" where kids can connect around a topic after school. Examples could be knitting, jewelry making, sewing, poetry, magic, Pokemon, soccer. Come contribute to our community!
We are also seeking additional professional programs especially STEM/Science-related, Languages (Spanish, ASL, Chinese, Japanese), stop motion videos, parkour, music classes, arts. Please help spread the word in our City to find some additional providers!
Email parent volunteer Adrianne at adrianne.schaefer@gmail.com.
Favorite Local Author Aron Nels Steinke is coming to Llewellyn!
Llewellyn Yearbooks
Llewellyn is pleased to provide YEARBOOKS FOR ALL students again this year! The feedback that was received last year was fantastic. YOUR help is needed in making this happen. Yearbooks are roughly $15 to produce. We are asking for donations to help cover this cost. If you are able to pay the $15 for your student(s), please do so here. If you are able to cover another student or even partial cost of a book, this will help us to achieve our goal of a yearbook for every student! You can also bring cash or check to the office as well.
On this note! If you are taking pictures of classroom fieldtrips, events or other school activities please share them with us! You can upload them to this google folder. We would love to have a wide range of photos to choose from for the yearbook!
From the Office
Parents - When you email us with attendance, call the attendance line (503-916-6256), or sign in your student late, please use the proper first and last names of your students. We are unable to look up students in the Attendance module using preferred names and trying to figure out who the student actually is can be time consuming. Thank you for your help!
If you have a last-minute change to your student's end of day plans, please call the office by 2:00PM. After that, it becomes much harder to get a note to teachers before the day ends. PLEASE CALL! We cannot guarantee that emails to the office or teachers will be seen after noon. Thank you for your help in making sure your student gets where they belong after school!
Please feel free to reach out to the office with questions. The office is open between 7:00AM and 3:00PM on school days.
Volunteering at Llewellyn
We LOVE volunteers! If you plan to volunteer at Llewellyn at any time, a background check must be completed. This is done at the district level at no cost to you and is good for three years. Please keep in mind that it can take up to 2-3 weeks for the application to be processed, especially at the beginning of the year. Look here for more information, to apply, or to see if your current application is still valid.
