September 2024 Update
Post Falls School District Newsletter
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
Superintendent's Message
Welcome back Post Falls Families!
We have a LOT to celebrate as we begin this school year. Post Falls School District was #1 for large school districts in k-3 reading proficiency as measured by the IRI. Additionally, our high school juniors far exceeded the state average for ISAT proficiency in English Language Arts, Math and Science.
Student attendance and achievement go hand in hand. Please do everything you can to schedule appointments and vacations when school is not in session. We want to ensure all our students achieve at their highest level and that begins with showing up.
We look forward to another fantastic year. Thank you for entrusting us with your children.
Warmly,
~ Dena Naccarato, Superintendent

Build the Habit of Good Attendance
Did you know?
- Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful, and on track for graduation.
- Missing 10%, or 2 days per month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student's academic success.
- Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
- Absences and tardies can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.

2024-2025 Breakfast and Lunch Pricing
The Child Nutrition Department offers a nutritious breakfast and lunch each school day through the National School Lunch Program. All menus adhere to nutritional standards and provide the necessary components for a healthy meal. Those students who need accommodation for a food allergy or intolerance need to have a signed statement from a physician or approved medical professional on file in the Nutritional Services Office. A monthly calendar of menus will be sent home with elementary students and may be viewed on our website at PFSD Nutritional Services.
How to make online meal payments . . . .
Payments to your student(s) account may be made online at RevTrak or through Skyward Family Access, by cash or check at the school kitchen, or by mail. For information on using the RevTrak system see our help document.
You May Qualify for the Free/Reduced Price Meal Benefit
Your child may be eligible to receive free or reduced price meals. You may qualify if your household’s annual gross income is within the limits identified by the Federal Income Eligibility Standards.
Our online application can be found on our website and paper copies are available upon request. (Here's a link to translated application information.) Only one application needs to be filled out per household. Remember - each year you must submit a new application.
Please contact Becky Elmore, Child Nutrition Supervisor, at 208-773-1625 with your questions regarding the school lunch or breakfast program.
As we observe National Suicide Prevention Month and World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, we recognize the critical need to address the challenges of suicidal ideation among our youth. The impact of this issue extends throughout our community, affecting us all.
The first step toward intervention and support is awareness of suicidal warning signs, which include the following changes:
- Behavioral: Withdrawing from friends and activities, giving away personal belongings, self-destructive behaviors, increased substance use, sudden mood improvement after depression.
- Verbal: Expressing feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, or being a burden. Talking about death, dying, or wanting to die, making statements like "I can't take it anymore" or "I wish I weren't here," mentioning specific plans or methods for suicide.
- Emotional: Drastic and sudden mood swings, overwhelming sadness, despair, emptiness, loss of interest in once-enjoyed activities, intense irritability or anger.
- Situational: Recent loss of a loved one, breakup, significant life changes, bullying or harassment, academic or work-related stress, financial difficulties, or other significant personal crises.
- Physical: Changes in sleep patterns (insomnia or excessive sleeping), changes in appetite or weight loss/gain, decreased personal hygiene and self-care.
- Social: Increasing social isolation and withdrawal from relationships, losing interest in social interactions or activities, feeling disconnected from friends, family, and self.
- Cognitive: Difficulty concentrating or making decisions, preoccupation with death, dying, or the afterlife, intense guilt or shame
If you or someone you know is experiencing hopelessness and suicidal thoughts, please seek help with these resources:
- 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: A nationwide lifeline network operating 24/7 to provide free and confidential crisis services. Visit 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
- Call 888-515-0595. Multilingual support is available 24/7/365.
- Visit www.caresolace.com/pfsd and either search on your own or click "Book Appointment" for assistance via video chat, email, or phone.
Unified — and with support and compassion — we can make a difference in our community's well-being. Let us stand together to raise awareness, provide assistance, and foster hope for a brighter future.
