The Carpenter Dragon Beat
March 17, 2025
Note from the Principal
Dear Carpenter Families,
This has been an incredible month of fun as we celebrate the joy of reading! Our Candyland theme has been a wonderful way to engage our students and make this month truly special. A huge thank you to all the parents who helped make this month such a success! From the amazing decorations in the hallways to the mystery readers visiting our building, it has been a magical two weeks. We are looking forward to finishing strong this week as students need to read 26,000 more minutes to hit our goal. I know we can do it!
An extra special thank you to Mrs. Crissman, Mrs. McGeogh, Mrs. Drake, and our PTC for the amazing decorations around our school—you have made our school feel extra special!
In addition, I want to express my appreciation to all families who attended Parent-Teacher Conferences. It was such a pleasure to see the strong communication between teachers and families.
Please note that we will observe our spring break next week. I hope your families enjoy this time together!
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Teresa Bronczyk
Principal, Carpenter Elementary School

The Positivity Project
The Positivity Project - Trait of the Week
This week our school community is focusing on the Other People Mindset of Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others. It’s important to deliberately work to identify and appreciate others’ character strengths. Identifying and appreciating the good in others is a core tenet of the Other People Mindset. This isn’t always what comes naturally. Often, it’s easier to blame others for our problems or find flaws in others to use as excuses for our own jealousy, bitterness, or resentment. If you see the good in another, they are likely to see the good in you.
To practice and encourage this character strength at home, please visit the Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families. There, you can watch a video, read a quote, and discuss the trait together. When visiting the site, please select your child's grade level and then the trait of the week.
Thank you for your continued support!

Important Drop-Off Reminder
Our parent drop-off area is always a busy place, and it takes all of us working together to make the process smooth and efficient. Here are a few reminders to help ensure your child arrives in their classroom on time each day:
- Arrive Early: Please be in the parking lot and lined up no later than 8:10 a.m. so that students can be in their classrooms by 8:15 a.m.
- Plan Ahead: Adjust your schedule by a few minutes each morning to allow extra time for drop-off.
- Right Turn Exit: If possible, turn right when exiting the parking lot to help with traffic flow.
- Pull Forward: Always pull all the way to the cone if you are next in line for drop-off. Please remain in your car while your child exits.
- Pack Your Patience: Our dedicated staff is outside in rain, sleet, snow, and cold to ensure your children’s safety—thank you for your kindness and cooperation!
We appreciate your help in keeping our mornings safe and efficient.
Thank you for being a part of our Carpenter community!
Distinguished Dragon Award
Distinguished Dragon Award
Lake Orion Community Schools launched a program in 2023-24 to recognize LOCS staff members for their excellence. The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at Distinguished Dragon Submission
We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
OK2Say
OK2SAY is available state-wide for public and private schools in Michigan; anybody can submit a confidential tip. Specially trained technicians receive the tips and filter the information to the appropriate agency to provide a timely and effective response.
