Hello Eagle Families,

We are thrilled to be back in the full swing of school as we welcome the month of September! The students have done an incredible job settling into routines and have just completed their NWEA testing, giving us a clear picture of where they are starting this year. Now that we have this valuable insight, our teachers are diving into instruction with focused plans to support and challenge each student. We’re excited for the growth and success that lies ahead! Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to help our students "Dream Big" this school year.

We kicked off the school year with an amazing first pep rally in our brand-new auditorium! The energy and excitement from the students were off the charts as we set the tone for the year ahead. This rally was just the beginning of a year filled with growth, learning, and fun. We’re excited to keep this momentum going and make this year one to remember!

On Tuesday, September 3rd, we had the honor of welcoming Illinois State Representative Abdelnasser Rashid to Havlicek along with our Superintendent Dr. Smith, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Crement. He was thoroughly impressed by the amazing things happening here! From our enthusiastic students to the incredible work of our teachers and staff, he saw firsthand the vibrant learning community we’ve built together. We look forward to continuing this valuable collaboration to ensure our students have the resources and support they need to achieve great things this school year and beyond!

Havlicek hoodies are now available for PRE-ORDER sale! The cost is $10 each for students and $15 each for adults. Payment for hoodie orders is CASH ONLY. All students will receive an order form in their home folders. Extra order forms will be available in the main office. All orders and payments MUST be submitted by Wednesday, September 25th, 2024. Hoodies will arrive in mid-October and will be distributed in school.

Attendance Pledges - Students will be receiving Attendance Pledges in their home folders. Please read through the Attendance Pledge with your student, sign it, and have them sign it as well. If your student returns their signed pledge by Friday, September 27th, they will receive a Dress Down Day the following week!

Second Step - Quarter 1 of our SEB (Social Emotional Behavior) / Second Step curriculum will be focused on Emotion Management. In the next couple of weeks, we will be naming and defining emotions and discussing their purpose. Emotion Management helps children build a foundation for developing empathy, coping skills, and problem-solving skills.
