Week In Review and A Look Ahead
October 25, 2024
Notes from the Principal
Excitement abounds as we near Halloween next week. Please note that costumes/dress-up is not allowed at school on this day and despite the numerous pleas I have recieved this week from our students, we have a full day of school next Thursday and Friday! I hope all of our students are safe and make positive and healthy decisions next Thursday night.
Tonight, Friday, we host our second dance of the year. Please be sure to follow our procedures for pick-up at the end of the dance so we can safely close out the evening in an efficient manner:
Students will be dismissed out three entrances. When picking up students in multiple grade levels, please pick up at the oldest grade level location.
- 8th grade will be picked up in the front loop.
- 7th grade will be picked up on the side tennis court lot.
- 6th grade will be picked up in the back by the gym.
7th Grade Science Fun
On Wednesday, our 7th grade science students were treated to an engaging presentation from Dr. Steve Sweeney. Dr. Sweeney is a physics professor at DeSales University and the chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physics.
In the presentation, Dr. Sweeney used liquid nitrogen to reinforce the concept of particle motion in states of matter while demonstrating and introducing the concept of physical changes to our students. He also used chemical reactions to illustrate the signs of chemical changes.

Hawk Mountain Field Trip
Our 6th grade teams were blessed with beautiful weather last week on our field trip to Hawk Mountain. Students were able to particpate in an engaging lesson about raptors and were able to see a live hawk, falcon, and owl. Afterwards, they hiked to various look-out points and were rewarded with breathtaking views.
