A message from Principal Stewart
Hello, Cocoa Tiger Families!
I hope that you and your Cocoa Tiger are feeling settled into the new school year. It’s hard to believe that we are already approaching the end of the first grading quarter of SY2024. It has been a super busy beginning to the year with much to celebrate, and some things to address and work to improve.
First, we are happy to welcome 30 new teachers since the end of last school year. Some of our new Cocoa Tiger teachers are in newly created positions funded by our Title I budget to assist our students with increasing academic achievement, improving attendance, and reducing behavior referrals.
As a Title I school, we are very intentional about ensuring the extra funds we receive are put to good use hiring staff, providing classroom learning supplies, funding field trips, purchasing textbooks, and providing parent outreach opportunities that help connect our families and our school for the purpose of enriching students’ learning experiences.
Because of the new FAST test introduced last school year, Florida schools will not be receiving school grades for SY2023, however, we have received our State Assessment results from last school year, as well as our PM 1 FAST results for Math and Reading for this year, and we are using these to make informed decisions about school improvement needs. Over summer, we had several teacher leaders come together for our Comprehensive Needs Analysis, which looked at all SY2023 testing and survey data for the purpose of providing our leadership team with suggestions for ways in which we could improve instruction, learning, and culture for all students in SY2024. This information was used to write our School Improvement Plan (SIP) for this school year, which is currently under review by district leadership. Once approved by the BPS School Board, we will be publishing this plan to our school website for your reference.
I look forward to working with our students and families to make SY2024 a great experience for all. I welcome your feedback, and I invite you to check your parent Focus portal and emails, as well as our Cocoa High School (official) Facebook and Instagram pages for weekly newsletters and updates about the great things our students and teachers are doing throughout the year.

We will have live performance, flag parade, a haunted house walk through and more! Come out and enjoy festive music and celebrate Hispanic Heritage with the Cocoa High School Art's department this Friday October the 13th starting at 5:30pm.
Round of applause to students Jill Robinson, Madison Wilson and Haylee Fernandez as they represented Cocoa High in this years All State Festival and will be representing us again for Brevard's All County performance in January. Please see Ms. K for more information.
High school choir students will be performing for this year's Night Against Crime in Cocoa. Students will be proudly representing their community and showing their Tiger Pride as they sing the national anthem to honor those who protect our community. Soloists Nick Blue (12th) and Madison Wilson (11th) will be also singing "Won't you be my Neighbor" from the popular children's show Mr. Rodger's neighborhood.
Last but not least, please wish our Advance Choir luck after submitting a tough audition for this year's Disney Candlelight performance at Walt Disney World. No matter the outcome, these students have worked tirelessly and sacrificed lots of time learning and perfecting the music. We are so proud of their dedication!
