Represent Rutland Schools in the 4th of July Parade.
Help is needed to design, build, assemble, decorate and generally prepare the float that will represent Rutland Schools in the 2024 Rutland 4th of July Parade. If you are able to put in a bit of grunt work and commitment, we want you! Participating students will have the opportunity to sit/ride on the float but will also walk and pass out candy during the parade itself.
There will be a preliminary planning meeting next Wednesday, June 5th at 6-6:30pm in the Naquag School Library for all those who can attend. The theme of the parade this year is Disney so start brainstorming. If you have any resources you would like to offer/contribute we will likely take you up on them!!
Thank you for supporting Rutland Schools and for your assistance in making this unique experience happen for our students!! Email NaquagPTO285@gmail.com with any questions.
Phone Call After 3:15 pm.
We appreciate your help with this.

HOMEWORK AT GLENWOOD- STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO READ NIGHTLY AND PRACTICE THEIR FACTS.
In an effort to allow children to be children and give them time to explore their interests and spend time with their families, we will continue with our unstructured homework. It is expected that students read (20 -40 minutes a night depending on their grade levels) and practice math facts nightly. It’s just expected that both will be done. Students will be held accountable for knowing their math facts as well as reading for enjoyment each night. The only time homework will be formally assigned is when students need to study for a test/quiz or complete a project. Here is a list of things you can do with your child at home in the absence of formal homework. I know it is tempting for children to use a device or watch TV in the absence of formalized homework, but the following list will provide a more fun and enriching experience for your child.
What is Happening At Glenwood
The Makerspace
A true makerspace is defined not by what's in it, but rather by what comes out of it: projects, experiences, artifacts, and learning. At Glenwood we are looking to have a makerspace that opens opportunities for children to design, create and explore. We are looking for donations of materials we can use in our makerspace. We are in desperate need of materials for our makerspace. Some things that we can not get enough of are:
small pieces of wood and nails for building
Cereal and cardboard boxes
masking and duct tape,
toilet paper and paper towel rolls,
craft supplies,
cereal boxes,
cardboard,
fabric, yarn,
streamers
plastic containers,
or anything that may end up in the recycling bin
We appreciate these and other materials that are in a clean and usable condition.
Best Field Day Ever. Thank you to the Rutland Fire Department.

2024 6th Grade Music Class Sign-up Form
PLEASE COMPLETE BY WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 2024
2024 Central Tree Music Course Selection Form
Central Tree Middle School offers a choice of Band, Chorus, and General Music plus an option of also joining Strings/Orchestra. Each class meets once a week and offers the opportunity for students to learn how to read music, sing/play a musical instrument, or learn about other topics in music. If students wish to participate in the string program, they MUST also choose chorus, band or general music.
Band, Chorus, and Strings/Orchestra are performing groups. Students in these classes will be required to perform in two evening concerts, one in the winter and one in the spring.
General Music does not focus on playing instruments or singing, but students will instead learn about a variety of topics in music including: world music, music history, music in media, etc.
What you need to get started in String Program/Orchestra
You will need a good quality new or used instrument. String instruments are rented through David French Music company. All repairs and size switches are covered under the rental agreement, whereas if a student owns their own instrument they have to pay for any repairs, string replacements etc. Here's the David French rental webpage for more info: https://www.davidfrenchmusic.com/aerntschoolselect.aspx
Students may choose violin, viola, cello or string bass. If the rental cost is a hardship there are things we can do about that. Please email Mrs. Will with any string related questions. We don't turn away any interested students!!
What you need to get started in Concert Band
You will need a good quality new or used instrument and the method book Essential Elements 2000. Clarinet and saxophone students will need 10 #2 Rico Reeds. I highly recommend renting a high quality instrument over an inexpensive purchase. Please contact Mrs. Will if you have any questions. You can purchase a new or used band instrument from any music store. Gerry’s Music Shop comes to CTMS every week to service instruments in their rental program. You can rent-to-own an instrument online from Gerry’s Music. Your instrument and book will be delivered to CTMS. Visit Gerry’s online at: Gerry's Music Shop
If you have a financial problem with renting or purchasing an instrument please contact

Cori
If you have been CORI'd at one of the three Rutland schools, then your CORI will carry over to the next school, however, they are only active for three years. There are times when we can get the results of a CORI check back quickly, but there are also times when we wait weeks for the results.
Avoid the rush by checking in with Mrs. Johnstone prior to any school activity.
