Webber News
April 5, 2024
Webber Families,
We hope everyone had a nice spring break!
On April 8th, Lake Orion is expecting a near total Solar Eclipse, with the peak occurring between 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Our fifth-grade students will have an opportunity to view the eclipse with safety glasses, as it is part of their curriculum. As an extra precaution we will not have any outdoor activities after 1:10 p.m. when our last recess ends. We will also be dismissing students with our rain day pick up plan to minimize the exposure time. Please let me know if you have any questions.

2024-2025 Classroom Placements
Webber Families,
It is that time of year for staff to start planning for the 2024-2025 school year. As we start to think about student class placements, it is our goal at Webber to have all classes balanced in a way that allows for every student’s needs to be met. The staff will be meeting in May to review the placement of each student. Teachers from the students’ current grade level, special education staff, support staff, and myself will carefully discuss the needs and learning style of each student. The major factors we consider are as follows:
*Student ability levels and demonstrated daily achievement
*Number of students in each class and a balance of gender
*Special learning concerns or needs
*Student behavior
*Personality/Cohesiveness of entire classroom group
As educators, it is important that we make informed decisions when preparing class lists. Our decisions impact all members of a classroom. Therefore, we cannot accept requests for teachers. We do our very best to place our students where they can receive the best possible instruction from our highly qualified staff.
Families will receive their placement letters at the end of August via email. Our grade level supply lists will be posted on our website before we leave for the summer.
Thank you for your understanding.

DISTINGUISHED DRAGON STAFF RECOGNITION
Lake Orion Community Schools is launching a program in 2023-24 to recognize LOCS staff members for their excellence.
The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at LakeOrionSchools.org/DistinguishedDragon. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
