Happy New Year! School Resumes on Wed., Jan. 4th!
2023-2024 Enrollment for CRPUSD
Did you know that the UELF Staff number is based on the confirmation of enrollment of students at UELF? California funds public schools based on the number of students enrolled for the school year and based on the numbers of students who physically attend the school on the first 10 days of school. The more accurate our numbers are for students per grade level will ensure that teachers at UELF will be able create classrooms that best suit the needs of our students.
Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Graders
- PLEASE complete this GoogleForm, to the best of your knowledge, by Feb. 15.
Incoming Kinder & TK
- Please communicate open enrollment to incoming Kindergarten and TK students! Send them the link for CRPUSD Enrollment and ask families to register by Feb. 28th!
5th Graders
- Registration opens up for you on Jan. 4th to register for the middle school you hope to attend for the 2023-2024 school year. READ the LETTER to 5th GRADE FAMILIES to get the timelines needed and what paperwork needs to be turned in. Registration is due by Feb. 28 and dates are put into consideration for intra and inter district transfers so it's better to be early.
Outdoor Gear Shop for UELF
Did you know the UELF 5th graders, Class of 2023, are the FIRST class to participate in outdoor education? Our 5th graders are preparing to explore the Golden Gate Campus of NatureBridge from Jan. 23 - 25, 2023.
We are looking for the following items to create an Outdoor Education "Rental Shop" at UELF to support this project this year and for years to come. Please donate these cleaned items to the office so the 5th graders can "shop" and borrow the tools needed for the trip. The goal is this Shop will grow so students over the years will have a place to get the gear needed for this trip.
- single bed fitted sheet
- sleeping bag
- rain jacket
- headlamp
- day hiking pack
- 32 ounce Nalgene style water bottles
- puffy jacket
- fleece midlayer
All items will be professionally cleaned after each year so the shop is ready for the next year.
HOLD the Date - Feb. 9 - 5pm to 7:30pm
HOLD Feb. 9, 5pm to 7:30pm for the UELF Winter Wonderland Friendship Dance! Be sure to share your songlist ideas using the googleform linked above OR dropping a note during the Morning Walk in the box near the boombox. Songs need to have the Song Title and the Artist. All music will be screened to be K-5 appropriate!
Response to Inquiry
"Where does one find most current test scores for UELF vs other schools in the district? I ask because a family that lives near the school said low scores factored into their decision to choose another school across town. I’m curious how often that info is updated, as in may be hindering enrollment."
Great inquiry from one of our UELF Parents! When looking at schools, their are multiple measures to look into and consider when selecting the best fit school for your children and family. They are:
- A space that's conducive to learning.
- Management that's guided by an educational leader.
- A team of teachers and paraeducators that has the capacity and training.
- Curriculum that's future-ready and contextualized to present needs.
- Technology that can enhance and deepen learning experiences.
- A system that is crafted for continuous improvement for the students and education team.
The inquiry shared by a UELF Parent, from the UELF CheckIn Form, targets that last point, which addresses student achievement. Linked here are the UELF Dashboard Page and an Explanation Page that explains the accountability measures for California Schools.
When reviewing this data, notice that this is the first measure since 2019 and it was the first time that the 5th and 4th graders had taken the assessment. This assessment, CAASPP, is intended to first be taken in 3rd grade, then every year there after. Prepandemic, this test was taken every April/May and the data was updated every September. Parents get test results in the mail and the dashboard is updated with every school in California. It is sounding like this practice will continue after this spring. The results for 2022 were just posted in December 2022 for Spring 2022.
The UELF staff began the 2022-23 school year reviewing this data, discussing next steps and are presently in professional learning teams investigating, discussing and measuring their instructional practice in the area of mathematics. The CRPUSD elementary principals are also on a team looking at instructional practices and working collaboratively with our teachers to monitor, adjust and learn more about how to ensure ALL STUDENTS ACHIEVE. Notice the jump for our UELF mulitlingual students! This demonstrates a strong focus on instructional routines that make core content accessible to all students, which will result in increased achievement.
Ways to support your children increasing their academic achievement are by doing the following:
- listen and talk with your children, push them to ask questions and explain their ideas
- support literacy at home by reading and writing together in real world situations
- visit places in the local region and ask questions why it is what it is (science, history)
- experiment with regular items and predict then test what can change it
- make school attendance and being on time to school a family priority
- listen and speak from your hearts
- build a home to school relationship, join us for the morning walk, read the newsletters, volunteer
It is the vision and goal of our site to demonstrate that if students engage in standards aligned, project-based learning experiences connected to their questions and curiosities, then their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics will show excellence in all forms of assessments.
Looking for a place to volunteer?
Classrooms teachers are looking for parents to be fingerprinted and registered for field trips, special events, and classroom jobs. Get yourself set up so you're ready to be there when your student needs you.
ALL volunteers must complete the CRPUSD Volunteer Registration Process, which includes fingerprinting. Please complete the application form and get yourself fingerprinted. This MUST be completed before you can volunteer. Once this is completed, you are clear for the duration of your child's school experience in CRPUSD, including high-school and middle school!
