Milk Cartons and Playground Fun! Have you ever seen someone help a little one open their milk at lunch? Or watched a game of tag led by a friendly face on the field? That's our amazing classified staff! The first week of March is National Classified Appreciation Week, and we're celebrating all the ways they help our kids. They're in the classrooms, on the playground, and everywhere in between, making sure our students are safe, happy, and learning. Let's show them some love this week! A simple "thank you" goes a long way.
Second Grade Stars Shine! Get ready for a delightful evening as our amazing second-graders present "Welcome to Our Neighborhood" on Wednesday, March 13th! They've been working hard to bring this charming performance to life, and we can't wait for you to see it. Join us in the gym at 6:00 PM for a heartwarming show you won't want to miss.
Sunshine & Family Fun! Mark your calendars! Spring Break is March 22nd-30th. Let's hope for some sunny days to enjoy quality time with our families. Whether it's a trip to the park, a cozy game night, or a leisurely walk, it's the perfect time to create lasting memories. Relax, recharge, and enjoy the precious moments with your loved ones!

Kindergarten: Asking Higher-Level Questioning
Students practice thinking deeply about a topic by responding to “higher level questions”. These are questions that require students to produce their own thoughts about a topic; they cannot simply repeat information they have learned but instead must create their own ideas. Kindergarten teachers help students practice this skill by asking them open-ended questions or questions that can have a variety of correct responses. Teachers use these types of questions throughout the day in all subject areas.
1st Grade: Costa’s Level of Thinking
First graders have been using a Stoplight model to help them better understand what level of question they are working with for each lesson. Costa’s Level of Thinking breaks down verbs into three levels: A Green level (Gather) question is meant to be able to quickly answer. A Yellow level (Process) question is meant to have students slow down and process what we really have to do before doing it. A Red level (Apply) question has students applying their previous or just learned knowledge to a task.
2nd grade: Collaboration and Inquiry Skills in Science
Spring brings many of 2nd grade’s favorite science units, including our Changes to Land unit! This unit is focused on observing how land changes occur quickly and slowly based on different factors in their environment. Throughout the next several weeks, students will strengthen their collaboration and inquiry skills through many hands-on lessons and experiments.
3rd Grade: Inquiry
Third graders love our science curriculum, Mystery Science! We're taking our study of forces (pulling and pushing, magnetism, and friction) to the next level! We'll be engineering and designing iceboard models, putting our knowledge of pushes and pulls into practical use. Students will work collaboratively to improve their designs, learn about the costs associated with materials, and practice their writing skills by documenting their observations and discoveries. This project will blend science, engineering, and economics, offering a fun and engaging way to learn about the world around us.
