RCSD BUDGET RENEWAL INITIATIVE: COMMUNITY INPUT SOUGHT
Our school district has launched the Budget Renewal Initiative in preparation for necessary budget adjustments for the 2025-26 school year. These changes are prompted by the upcoming expiration of one-time federal and state funds that supported additional student services in the aftermath of the pandemic.
The district is committed to a transparent and community-driven process and is seeking input from the entire community.
To gather feedback, RCSD is inviting all families and staff members to participate in a district-wide survey. The input collected will help guide discussions and recommendations that will be presented to the Board of Trustees in December.
Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts by completing this survey.
Your voice is important to prioritize student services!
OCTOBER PRINCIPAL'S COFFEE
Please join us at this month's Principal's Coffee on Friday, October 22nd at 8:15 am in the library & virtually to hear more about the Facility Master Planning Process and provide your input, discuss priorities, and review preliminary plans. Your input will assist in creating a strategic and actionable plan for the future of our school facilities.
As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the educational environment for our students and staff, we are excited to inform you about initiating the Facility Master Planning process for the Redwood City School District, funded by Measure S. This comprehensive plan addresses current and future facility needs, ensuring our schools continue supporting high-quality education and community engagement.
To ensure the success of this project, it is crucial to gather diverse perspectives from across our school community. The inclusion of these diverse stakeholders will provide valuable insights and help us create a master plan that meets the needs and expectations of all community members.
We are confident that we can develop a master plan that will significantly benefit our students, staff, and the broader community. Your guidance and insights will be invaluable in this process. We hope you will be able to join us.

CLIFFORD 2024 HALLOWEEN INFORMATION & GUIDELINES
Thursday, October 31 is Halloween and Clifford students may choose to participate in the TK-5 Halloween Parade or the 6th - 8th Halloween Carnival. Please let your child’s teacher know if you do not wish for your child to participate.
Our TK-5 Halloween Parade will take place on the blacktop from 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Students who choose to dress up should come to school in costume. The 6th - 8th Grade Halloween Carnival will be on the upper field from 12:45 - 1:30 p.m.
Parents are welcome to stay after drop-off to watch the Halloween parade! We ask that parents watch the parade from the designated parent viewing areas. Once the parade is over, we ask that all parents exit campus. Parents who are volunteering or visiting school for classroom parties or for the 6th -8th grade Halloween Carnival, must sign in and get a visitor/volunteer badge at the office before re-entering campus.
Halloween Costume Guidelines
All costumes for all TK-8 students must adhere to our school standards for appropriate attire in addition to the following conditions:
Students must be able to sit, walk, breathe, see, and hear.
No masks please, we need to see students’ faces.
Students must be able to go to the bathroom independently in their costumes.
Costumes cannot promote the use of drugs, alcohol, or weapons of any kind. No fake blood or gore.
No pretend “prop” weapons of any kind, such as water pistols, knives, or swords.
Any costume that will disrupt the routine of the day or class, including PE, will not be allowed.
Costumes should not be demeaning to any ethnic group, race, religion, nationality, gender, individual, or group.
The final decision on all costumes will be made by the administration.
Please remember that this is still a full school day. Students are expected to fully participate in each class throughout the day, including learning in class, playing on the playground, and fully moving in PE. We are looking forward to everyone following the guidelines, coming up with creative costumes, and having fun!!

RIDWELL SCHOOL PLASTICS DRIVE
Dear Clifford community,
We have the chance to keep plastic film out of landfills! This fall, the school is hosting a Ridwell recycling drive. You’re invited to bring plastic film (ziptop bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to school from October 28th - November 1st and Ridwell will make sure it stays out of landfills. Start collecting plastic film now so you have a bunch to bring during the drive.
Curious about Ridwell at-home recycling pickup? They collect hundreds of common household items you can’t recycle curbside, like plastic food packaging, clothes, Styrofoam, and more. You can help the school earn rewards if you sign up for a household membership by December 15. We’ll earn pickup of the school’s plastic film all spring when 10 new members sign up and a field trip to the Ridwell warehouse when 20 new members sign up.
Find out more at https://get.ridwell.com/clifford—it’s a unique link just for our school, so when you sign up there, your membership counts toward our totals. You can share it with friends and family, too, and their membership will also count! (Just make sure they live in a Ridwell service area.)
Thank you!

ATTENDANCE COUNTS
Now that we are a few months into the school year, we want to emphasize the importance of regular attendance. Being present at school every day is crucial for your child’s academic success and overall growth. Each day of learning builds on the previous one, and frequent absences can cause students to fall behind, making it harder to catch up.
We understand that illnesses and unavoidable circumstances may arise, but we encourage families to make every effort to ensure students are at school and on time whenever possible. Consistent attendance not only helps students academically but also fosters positive habits and stronger connections with their classmates and teachers.
In October, we will be hosting a classroom attendance competition! The class with the highest attendance rate in each grade span (TK-2, 3-5, and 6-8) will win a special prize: an extra recess with popsicles! We shared this exciting news at our assemblies today, and the students are already looking forward to the challenge!
Thank you for your support in helping us provide a strong foundation for your child's education. If you have any concerns about attendance or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
