Dear Roy DeShane Families,

We had an absolutely wonderful first three days of school at Roy DeShane! The students are so happy to be back! They have had the opportunity to get to know their teachers and classmates, and are already settling into their routine. Please continue reading to learn what’s happening at Roy DeShane!

Benchmark Testing: This week, 1st - 5th graders will take the iReady Reading assessment, followed by the iReady math assessment the week of September 3rd. Kindergarten and 1st grade students will take the Illinois Snapshots of Early Literacy (ISEL) the week of September 3rd. Teachers use this data to plan their instruction. These results will be sent home to you.

Ice Cream Social: The PTA will be hosting an Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 29 from 6:00 - 7:30 on the Roy DeShane playground. Bring your family for some ice cream, playground fun, and socializing!

Curriculum Night: Find out what your children will be learning this year. Our curriculum night will be held September 4th, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Lunch Supervisor Needed: We are still seeking another lunchroom supervisor. Lunchroom supervisors work on school days from 11a.m. - 1:30 p.m. If you or a relative or friend is interested in joining a great team, please contact Ms. Alva if you are interested! alvam@ccsd93.com or 630-588-6300.
