SMS Weekly Update
May 10, 2024
Life at SMS
This week, SMS celebrates our Media Center volunteers: Angelique Harold, Sara Wuertz and Tiffany Yandt. They have volunteered countless hours of their time to keep the SMS library open for students to continue to utilize and get the resources they need. Their willingness to step in and support SMS has been incredible, and we thank them immensely!
Over the past several weeks, Leadership classes have been raising money for Camp Attitude. They have been collecting money for raffle basket prizes. The prizes were spectacular and sought-after in a big way. One prize students could purchase was the opportunity to pie a teacher in the face; a huge deal and so much fun to watch!
Dear Archers,

Outdoor School
This Tuesday our first group of sixth graders will head to Outdoor School. This is an exciting time of year for our students and we are so excited to see them explore their science curriculum in a fun and engaging way. Families have received a lot of information from their student(s) science teacher, and we wanted to ensure that all of that information was in one easy to read place as you make last minute preparations to head to camp.

Knives of any size.
Metal knuckles.

Explosives or fireworks.
Noxious, irritating, or poisonous gases.

Other items intended or used to harm, threaten, or harass people.
If you find a potentially dangerous item, do not touch it; tell the office or a teacher immediately.
Please click here for additional District information regarding Weapons.
Lost & Found
We have collected a lot of things in our lost & found. Please remind your student to check for anything that they may be missing. All items left after 5/17 will be donated.
Order Your Yearbook Today!
Sherwood Middle School PSO Facebook page has current info for parents regarding yearbook, reminders & activities. Please subscribe.
We could really use more photos of 6th graders. Girls sports and 6th grade candid's. Group shots are great - especially if all the kids are from SMS. We could also use more track/lacrosse/spring sports/activities in general.
Please see the flyer below for details on ordering your yearbook.
If you have ordered, please login to ensure you selected your students flight time teacher.
School Need: Tissues and Disinfecting Wipes
Allergy season is among us! Our current stock of tissues and disinfecting wipes has been cleared out as students and staff power through allergy season. Any donations of disinfecting wipes or tissue would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be dropped off in the main office of the school. Thank you!
Celebrate SMS Staff
Has a SMS staff member gone above and beyond for you or your student this year? We would love to hear about your experience and celebrate that staff member. You are invited to nominate any staff member in the building to be recognized using the super quick form linked here.
New App for Student Transportation: My Ride K-12
This spring, the Ride 360 app that our district uses to provide families with student transportation information will be replaced by a new app called My Ride K-12. This new app can be downloaded now in the Apple and Android app stores at the links below.
The Ride360 app will be discontinued during the month of May. In order to continue receiving up-to-date information about your student's bus transportation, you will need to download the My Ride K-12 app as soon as possible.
Once you have downloaded the new My Ride K-12 app, you will use your existing Ride360 log-in credentials to access the new app. No further sign-up is needed - all of your student's information, including route, will automatically transfer over to the new app!
For questions or assistance with the new My Ride K-12 app, please contact our Transportation Department at 503-825-5900 or by email at transport@sherwood.k12.or.us

The SHS Equestrian Team is part of the Oregon High School Equestrian Teams (OHSET) organization and welcomes beginning through advanced riders.
