Teaching students to choose love in any circumstance through self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Leo Buscaglia (author and educator aka "Dr. Love")
Before children take compassionate action, it's important they understand the meaning of empathy, which can often be confused with sympathy.
Teaching students about compassion is vital. Children need the support of their peers, teachers, and parents. Compassion plays a major role in building these connections and relationships by teaching children to think about how others are feeling and what they can do to help them.
Compassion has two components: the first is empathy, which means putting yourself in someone else's shoes and trying to feel what that person feels, and the second is action, which means helping someone in need and performing acts of kindness without expecting anything in return. Compassion in action is the understanding of a problem or suffering of another and acting to solve the problem or alleviate the suffering.

ARYABHATTA HOUSE
While generations have been associating schools with solely academic learning, the real meaning of learning is way beyond that. Focusing on many aspects apart from mainstream subjects is essential for schools. This will help them ensure the all-round development of kids. To enable students to function in groups and be ready for the real world, schools need to adopt multiple approaches. Right from reading books and storytelling to team activities for practical exposure to co-existence
The house system ensures that students from different grades and sections come together with a common goal of success. This helps the students interact with people beyond their classroom and age group. It also helps them to learn about dealing with people of varying age groups and learning levels. Working as a part of the house towards a common goal gives them a sense of unity. Peer respect and value for teams are some major takeaways from this approach.

HUMANITIES
Innovative Approaches to teach Cambridge Lower Secondary Art & Design
The Department of Art and Design has implemented the Cambridge Lower Secondary Art and Design Curriculum for all middle school students. The curriculum has been modified to incorporate Indian art, architecture, and cultural elements.
The Cambridge Lower Secondary Art & Design curriculum framework supports an open, flexible, and non-linear approach to teaching and learning. In Art and design, teaching and learning should provide repeated – and limitless – freedom, choice, and opportunity to use and experiment with media, materials, and techniques. The fundamental stages of the artistic process can and should take place in any order.
Learners should not feel constrained by the content of the units. Instead, they are encouraged to use the suggested activities as a starting point and to explore and make the best use of available media, materials, and resources.
Experience is a fundamental aspect of the artist process. In Art and design, learners are always encouraged to focus on the ongoing experience of tools, equipment, media, materials, and processes and are motivated to ask themselves questions about their use of resources in order that they can make informed choices about their future work.
Visual Journals
Visual journals, also known as sketchbooks, play a pivotal role in the artistic voyage. Students are tasked with utilizing their visual journals to explore, document, and capture their evolving thoughts, concepts, and reflections.
Grade 8th artistic learnings for the month of August
Grade 8 learners were introduced to the concept of Still Life study and artist references. Learners were encouraged to create the still life by utilizing various techniques and alternative media such as charcoal, oil pastels, and soft pastels by layering the colors over each other.
The term 'still life' describes a work of art that shows inanimate objects from the natural or man-made world, such as fruit, flowers, dead game, and/or vessels like baskets or bowls. A still life depicts things that are 'still' and don’t move. Still-life is a genre that spans art history. It is found everywhere from ancient Egyptian tombs—decorated with paintings of objects from daily life—to works of modern art where it provided opportunities to experiment with new techniques, forms, and styles.
The genre became particularly popular in the Netherlands during the 17th century when urbanization led to a greater emphasis on the home, personal possessions, and commerce.
The artist reference study project was introduced as a continuation of still life to grade 8.

Grade 7 Practical: Reflection Using a Laser Light
Exploring the redirection of light using a laser presents a captivating experiment that can enhance your comprehension of optical principles and the behavior of light when it interacts with various surfaces. Below, grade 7th students have devised a straightforward experiment to illustrate how laser light can be reflected.
This experiment serves as a practical illustration of the law of reflection, which asserts that the angle at which light strikes a surface (known as the angle of incidence) is equal to the angle at which it bounces off that surface (known as the angle of reflection). The laser light, characterized by its exceptional focus and coherence, offers an enhanced visibility of this phenomenon.
Investigating Reactivity Series through Displacement Reaction in Grade 8
Eighth-grade students delved into the reactivity series through a hands-on exploration involving a displacement reaction using copper sulfate and an iron nail. During this experiment, the students keenly observed the formation of a brown coating on the iron nail, signifying the deposition of copper as a result of iron displacement. Additionally, the once-blue copper sulfate solution underwent a noticeable transformation, turning green.
This experiment not only confirmed the validity of the reactivity series concept but also fostered the crucial skill of keen observation, a fundamental aspect of any scientific learning journey.
