Gower West News

Today was a busy but great day. We started our day with an all school assembly, lots of music and dancing, and helping to build our Gower West Community. Students practiced and learned all about our back to school expectations and were introduced to new friends and staff throughout the building. In classrooms, students were coloring, doing some creative team building and getting to know each other. I hope your child came home and shared some of their favorite parts of the day and we look forward to seeing everyone Monday.

Thank you to the PTO and Foundation for hosting the BooHoo Yahoo! For those of you able to join I hope you had a wonderful time.

• Students may be dropped off between 7:35 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. while staff is on duty. Students arriving after 7:45 a.m. are considered tardy and should be brought by parents to the office to be checked in. Parents are asked to ring the doorbell, sign the child in as tardy, and provide the reason for arriving late.

• All car drop offs should take place between the MAIN ENTRANCE (Door #1) and PLAYGROUND (door #29). All car pick ups will take place at the PLAYGROUND (Door #29).

• Drop off in the morning will include Zone 1, Zone 2, and Zone 3 (see AM traffic map on reverse). Avoid ONLY using Zone 3 for drop offs. Please drop off your child in any zone (Zone 1, Zone 2, or Zone 3) where your car stops in the car line.

• Parents who choose to park and drop off or pick up their child must do so by walking up to Door #28 ( by the playground). Please do not park your car on Sheridan Road in restricted areas. Limited parking is available in the Gower West parking lot or south of the playground along Cherry Tree.

• Students picked up at the end of the day are dismissed beginning at 2:22 p.m. Avoid the traffic back up by waiting until 2:30 p.m. to pick up your child! Staff will remain at the doors with children until 2:40 p.m. After 2:40 p.m. students may be picked up in the office.

• Students must always enter and exit cars on the building side and parents must remain in their cars. Gower West staff will help children who need assistance opening and closing doors.

• During dismissal, entrance to the school parking lot is RIGHT TURN ONLY off of Sheridan Road. Left turns will be prohibited after 2 p.m. in the afternoon. Gower families can make a left turn into the entrance only for drop off in the morning. See the AM and PM traffic map on the reverse.

• Pull ahead as far as possible when dropping off or picking up your child. Do not allow your child to delay getting out of the car at the front door only.

• Please drive slowly through the car line.

• Students can exit cars at any point along the sidewalk where there is a supervisor. It is not necessary to wait to exit cars at the north end of the building.

• If your child has too much to carry or has things in the trunk, please park in the parking lot and walk with them to door #28 (by the playground). Do not park illegally and block traffic.

• Always display your Family Name Card in the window or hold it up in order for it to be seen. Please write your family name on the card using a dark marker so staff can easily see your name.
