April 2024 Newsletter!
Happy April! We hope everyone enjoyed spring break! We are excited to see our students tomorrow morning! Please see the information below with a couple of summer camp options from our high school, as well as information about the upcoming Georgia Milestones assessments. Please also note, tomorrow's eclipse (Monday, April 8th) falls mostly during our transition and dismissal time. In an effort to provide an opportunity for students to view the eclipse safely, students will construct a pinhole projector they can use to view the eclipse through projection once they arrive home. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back tomorrow and look forward a great month.
~Mrs. Bryant

*If you would like to review the online tools students will use on the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade assessments, you can visit http://www.gaexperienceonline.com/. Note the Georgia Experience Online site is set up by grade bands and items do not necessarily represent the specific grade-level content that students learn daily in their classrooms. The primary purpose is to let students experience, firsthand, the functionality of the online testing platform.
If you have any questions about GMAS testing, please contact our testing coordinator, Gary Morris, at gmorris@cartersvilleschools.org.
*We know this can be an anxious time for students, so please help us remind them they have been preparing for this all year. We simply ask they do their best! You can help us from home by:
- Being in attendance and on-time to school each testing day.
- Making sure your child receives a good night's sleep before each test.
- Encouraging them to simply do their best.
- Eating a healthy breakfast each morning. (Breakfast is available at school each day!)
PTC Opportunities:
PTC (Parent Teacher Cooperative)

School Attendance
Make attendance a priority by ensuring your child is at school and on time every day. If your child is sick and needs to be absent from school, a note must be turned in within 3 days of the absence. You may e-mail doctor's notes to Sabrina McWhorter at smcwhorter2@cartersvilleschools.org. Dress Code Reminders:
As the weather gets warmer, we wanted to share a few dress code highlights from our CES handbook. We are also including some highlights from the CMS dress code for our 5th grade parents. We realize the clothing you may purchase this spring, could still be worn when school begins in August, so being aware of the middle school dress code may help as students transition.
CES Dress Code highlights:
- Shorts are acceptable provided they are not too short. (jogging shorts, cycling shorts, etc. are not permitted)
- Halter tops, tank tops, spaghetti straps, see through clothing, and clothing which shows the midriff are not permitted.
- No see-through holes above the knees that the students' skin or under garment can be seen.
- All clothing must be worn in the manner in which it was intended to be worn. (Example: pajama pants may only be worn on pajama days.)

- Tops must cover midriff and chest. Sleeveless tops must be a minimum of 3 fingers width at the shoulders.
- No holes in pants that allow skin to be visible.
- Leggings, yoga pants, jeggins, and similar clothing may be worn when covered by an outer garment (shorts or long shirt) that covers the backside all around.

Lost and Found:
Parents and guardians, please help remind your child to:
- Please check for lost items as they are leaving lunch (Lost & Found is located across from the cafeteria).
- Please write names on items so we can help get the item back to the owner. Many items that are being found do not have names on them.
- The Lost & Found will be cleared out at the end of each month, and any remaining items will be donated. Please check for lost items before the last Friday of each month, so no valuables will be donated.
