Happy Friday Cedar Families,

As we return to Cedar Ridge after the break, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your continued support and partnership in your child's education journey. Spring Break provided us all with a chance to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with our loved ones, and I trust it was a refreshing and enjoyable time for your family.

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, I want to encourage you and your child to finish strong. While the end of the year may feel like it's on the horizon, there is still much to be accomplished and celebrated in the coming weeks.

Next week the 5th grade students will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment. This assessment has three sections and will be taken over the course of three days. Each section will take approximately an hour.

Thank you again for all your support this year. Our Rockets are doing an amazing job and we are looking forward to the next two months.

Feliz viernes a las familias de Cedar, Al regresar a Cedar Ridge después de las vacaciones, quería tomar un momento para expresar mi gratitud por su continuo apoyo y colaboración en el viaje educativo de su hijo. Las vacaciones de primavera nos dieron a todos la oportunidad de descansar, recargar energías y pasar tiempo de calidad con nuestros seres queridos, y confío en que fue un tiempo refrescante y agradable para su familia. Al entrar en la recta final del año escolar, quiero animarles a ustedes y a sus hijos a terminar con fuerza. Mientras que el final del año puede sentirse como si estuviera en el horizonte, todavía hay mucho que lograr y celebrar en las próximas semanas. La próxima semana los estudiantes de 5to grado tomarán la Evaluación de Ciencias de Illinois. Esta evaluación tiene tres secciones y se tomará en el transcurso de tres días. Cada sección tomará aproximadamente una hora. Gracias otra vez por todo su apoyo este año. Nuestros Rockets están haciendo un trabajo increíble y estamos deseando que lleguen los próximos dos meses. This message is for any families who have a student starting in Kindergarten next year at Cedar Ridge. We are excited to welcome you and your child to our Kindergarten Preview and Registration Day on April 17 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM.

During this event, families will remain in the gym for student registration and a presentation from our building administration. Meanwhile, our incoming kindergarteners will be escorted by a teacher to a classroom for a brief screening. Families will be asked to stay in the gym during this time.

We will also provide important information on required medical forms, and computers will be available for families needing assistance with the registration process.

If you have a student that will be joining us at Cedar Ridge next year, please contact the main office so we can send you the necessary information. Families are encourage to complete registration for all students by April 11. We look forward to meeting you and your child as we begin this exciting journey together! Este mensaje es para cualquier familia que tiene un estudiante que comienza en Kindergarten el próximo año en Cedar Ridge. Estamos muy contentos de darle la bienvenida a usted ya su hijo a nuestra vista previa de Kindergarten y Día de Registro el 17 de abril de 12:30 a 2:00 PM.

Durante este evento, las familias permanecerán en el gimnasio para el registro de estudiantes y una presentación de la administración de nuestro edificio. We would love for you to join us in celebrating the staff at Cedar during Teacher Appreciation Week! Each day we will celebrate them in different ways! The items we need are listed below, so are volunteer opportunities for that week!! All items should be brought in by Friday May 2nd unless otherwise noted on the sign up!

Our focus for April will be resilience. Resilience means not giving up when things get hard or to "bounce back" from challenges. Just like we have our common language at Cedar to "Stay in your bubble", we would also like to use "Bounce back" to remind students to be resilient. To teach students about resilience, here are a few resources:

Cedar Ridge is excited to announce that this year’s 5th Grade Recognition will be held on Tuesday, May 20th from 1:00 to 1:45, here at Cedar Ridge! Parents/Guardians are welcome to come help recognize and honor our 5th graders, as they end their educational careers as elementary school students, and begin their careers as growing middle schoolers. The celebration will begin in the halls of Cedar. Families, staff, and students will line the halls and give the 5th graders a giant red carpet Clap Out! Feel free to bring posters and other visual props to help celebrate our students!

Following the Clap Out, 5th grade students, staff, and families, will gather in the gym for a final get together. Included in the get-together, will be a photo booth, treats, and a special presentation. Parents and guardians will have the option to take their child home with them at the end of our celebration. Please find your child’s classroom sign out sheet to sign out, prior to leaving.

Cedar Ridge se complace en anunciar que el Reconocimiento de 5to Grado de este año se llevará a cabo el martes 20 de mayo de 1:00 a 1:45, ¡aquí en Cedar Ridge! Los Padres / Tutores son bienvenidos a venir a ayudar a reconocer y honrar a nuestros alumnos de 5to grado, ya que terminan sus carreras educativas como estudiantes de primaria, y comienzan sus carreras como estudiantes de secundaria en crecimiento. La celebración comenzará en los pasillos de Cedar. Las familias, el personal y los estudiantes se alinearán en los pasillos y les darán a los estudiantes de 5to grado un Aplauso Gigante (Clap Out) en la alfombra roja. ¡Siéntase libre de traer carteles y otros accesorios visuales para ayudar a celebrar a nuestros estudiantes!

Después del Aplauso Gigante (Clap Out), los estudiantes de 5to grado, el personal y las familias, se reunirán en el gimnasio para una reunión final. Diversity club is on a break until April 7th. Students who are a part of Diversity club can plan to attend the final meetings on the dates below:

PTO Spring Fundraiser Info Coming Soon!
We’ are selling frozen pastries and cookie dough from Perfect Pastries. The fundraiser will run from February 28-March 17. Product pick up will be held at the school on April 9.

Thanks to all of your support with the Read-A-Thon during the Fall, we were able to replenish playground equipment for the students. Proceeds from the Spring Fundraiser will be used towards technology upgrades for the building.
