Santa Clara School Newsletter
Term 3, Week 2 - Friday 26th July, 2024
Principal Update
Dear Parents & Caregivers
I am delighted to be sending my first newsletter as Acting Principal of Santa Clara School. It’s a very proud moment for me personally and professionally having now spent one year at this school. I am truly blessed to lead such a great community until the end of this school year. I have had the pleasure of witnessing firsthand the significant progress our school community has made in all areas led by Mr. Payne and our outstanding staff.
This Sunday’s Gospel (John 6:1-15) focus is on family! This resonates with me as I went overseas for a family wedding for three days. I haven’t been on a family holiday since 2013 and didn’t really want to go but my wife insisted that we go so we booked our tickets and off we went. It was only a short 3-day Indian wedding leaving last Thursday and arriving back to Perth on Monday. Upon reflection of this short break, I realised I spent quality time with family as well as building relationships and new connections with my wife’s family from around the world who are all wonderful people. What I take away from this experience is the importance of spending time with your loved ones. In today’s society we are so concerned with commitments that take us away from spending time with our loved ones for example, spending time on our phones scrolling on social media or in search of material possessions that we think will make us happy. I guess what I am trying to say from my experience of this short break is the gift of time. Time you cannot get back. As a father of 3 boys aged 15, 10 and 6 it was a gift to spend quality time with them and have grown closer together as a family due to this short holiday for a family wedding.
Sunday’s Gospel highlights the importance of family. I suggest speaking with your children about what qualities/values that make a great family and name them i.e. time together, cooperation, patience, acts of service and so on. We often get lost in a society where we focus on material things and put all our efforts in trying to live up to certain expectations that society places on us that take us away from what really matters. The gift of time is the richest gift we can offer our loved ones!
This term promises to be a very busy one with many exciting events planned for children for the term. The Year 3 and 5 students begin preparing for the Religious Education Assessment (REA) with practice tests this week for the official test next week. On Friday 9th August we celebrate Clare Day beginning with Mass and our annual mini fete following this which is always fun.
Thank you for your support and I very much look forward to working closely with you and your family over the coming term.
Kind regards

FREINDLY REMINDER
A friendly reminder that if your child is unwell or experiencing flu like symptoms we kindly ask that you keep them home to rest and recover. We have noticed of late that some children have been sent to school despite being unwell in the morning and this potentially will impact the other students and staff the risk being much greater as we are spending more times indoors with the wet weather. We thankyou for your support in ensuring the wellbeing of the students and staff.
Enjoy your weekend!
