Principal's Message
Greetings Panthers!!
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well after the impact of Hurricane Milton. We know how challenging these times can be, and we want to extend our heartfelt thoughts to everyone affected by the storm. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your family is in need of any support or resources during the recovery process.
As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Monday, October 14th, as teachers finalize grades for the first nine weeks. Report cards for the first marking period will go home on Thursday, October 29th. Also, please be on the lookout for a letter regarding Report Card Conference Day that will be sent home this week.
As part of National Bullying Prevention Month, on Wednesday, October 16th, Orange County Public Schools will participate in Unity Day, "Make it Orange and Make it End. Unite Against Bullying!". This is a national effort to inspire students for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. We encourage all students and staff to wear orange to show their support for bullying prevention. We look forward to your participation.
Please join us this Thursday, October 17th from 5:00pm -5:30pm for our Annual Title I meeting. Our School Advisory Council (SAC) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings will immediately follow at 5:30pm and 6:00pm.
Kona Ice will be on campus on Friday, October 18th during recess, to help celebrate the end of the first nine weeks! Please see the flyer in this week's newsletter and Talking Points for the link to pre-pay for your child's treat and help support our wonderful PTA and all that they do for our school! The prepay site is currently open and ready for orders!
Panthers, please support our Phillis Wheatley PTA by pre-ordering Krispy Kreme donuts. The deadline for pre-orders has been extended to October 22nd. Donuts will be available for pickup or delivered to your scholar on Friday, October 25th. Please return your order form with payment (exact cash or by CashApp) no later than Tuesday, October 22nd!
As always, thank you so much for your support and for all that you do for the scholars at Phillis Wheatley ES. We look forward to seeing our scholars bright and early Tuesday morning by 8:15am.

Teach your child about the importance of telling the truth.
List two ways to rebuild trust after being dishonest.
Remind your child that your authentic self is the best version of yourself.
Help your child to pause to think about the consequences before choosing whether or not to tell the truth.
Discussion Questions:
Should you be honest with people even if it hurts their feelings? Why or why not?
Are the people that you meet online always honest? How do you know if they are being honest?
