RFPME Newsletter
November 2024
A Note From Kai
November 25, 2024
Welcome to our new newsletter format! As a district, we are transitioning to Smore for our online newsletter platform. We'll try to keep things as consistent as possible, but there will be some changes to formatting and access to flyers, etc. Feedback is welcome as we make the switch! Using Smore increases access to translation tools for families and allows for more consistent branding across the district. These newsletters should be mobile phone friendly, as well.
What a busy week! Thank you to all who honored Veterans Day with us in person or through sending an addition to our 'Wall of Honor'. It was a special day. Pat Knox, from Chartwells, brought his Discovery Kitchen for the beginning of a culinary series for our Elementary students. Our sixth grade students attended Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro, MN for three days and two nights. We will be happy to have them back at school next week!
Thank you to all of you who were able to attend conferences. Teachers enjoy the time with you to celebrate your child as an individual.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Kai

Veterans Day
On Monday, we honored Veterans in our community on Veterans Day. Our Student Council, led by Ms. Julie, hosted a Veterans Reception where Veterans, their families, and their loved ones who attend RFPME gathered to share their service. The also created a 'Wall of Honor' outside the Media Center with Veterans who are related to students at our school. It is fantastic and we invite you to take a peak the next time you are in the building. Members from Legion 151 joined our ceremony and gave a 21 gun salute and played Taps. Ms. Betsy's dad, Larry Berg, talked with our elementary classes about being a Veteran. The discussions and questions were so meaningful to all who participated. Thank you to those who could join us or helped get a Wall of Honor addition to school.
Discovery Kitchen
Pat Knox brought his Discovery Kitchen for the first of 6 events at our school - Noodles Around the World. He taught each of our Elementary classes about different kinds of noodles and where they come from in the world. Students were able to do a taste test. Next month, they will be learning about spices. These food experiences align with State Standards.
