Schurr Announcements
SCHURR Expectation of the Month: Courageous"
“The ultimate measure of a person is not where they stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where they stand at times of challenge and controversy."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Gratitude: We want to thank you for your patience and support these past two weeks. We had technical difficulties with Smore so we could not send out the Community Spartan Weekly. We will continue to send out the Community Spartan Weekly on Mondays.
Attendance Rate: Our latest attendance rate was 94.3%. Thank you to all staff and students for your supportive, uplifting spirit getting students to attend school. Let's work hard to keep our attendance rate above 95%. Please greet students with your uplifting Spartan Spirit and engaging 4Cs learning environments. Remind them that they are loved at Schurr. Thank you for your support.
Expectations Assemblies: We will have our Semester 2 Expectations Assemblies this week, starting Tuesday. Each grade level will go to the assembly during the Extended 4th portion of the period. We will start with 12th Grade Tuesday, 11th Grade Wednesday, and 10th Grade on Thursday. We will postpone 9th Grade until Tuesday, Feb. 4th . Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and collaborative support.
Phone Confiscation: Please inform students that we are confiscating phones from students if they are out of class during instructional time using their phones. This will be inclusive of students who are part of a "tardy sweep." Additionally, any student who has an Ed. Code 48900 violation, which requires a suspension, will lose cell phone privileges for an extended period of time. We will share this information during our Expectations Assemblies this week. Thank you for your support.
Critical Thinkers
Critical Thinkers from Applied Environmental Science and AP Applied Environmental Science invested a week of their time to learn more deeply and critically about the environment at Yosemite National Park.
Collaborators/Communicators
Collaborators communicated with one another to clear brush in Yosemite to prevent forest fires from flaring up in California's majestic Yosemite National Park.
Creators
Over 70 Schurr Spartans traveled to Yosemite to apply their critical thinking, collaborative, and communicative skills to learn how to create a better world for the present and future. Thank you for all you do.

Gratitude: Thank you to Garth Kline and Skills USA for their work on Saturday, January 25. Last year, Schurr Skills USA earned First Place at Regional and at California State level. Consequently, they went to Nationals. We commend your for your critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
Gratitude: Thank you to Tanya Borba and Tiffany Kang for taking 72 students to Yosemite National Park last week. Students came back enthusiastic about their experience and how best to protect nature and live in harmony with our natural resources. Thank you for making what students learn in textbooks and articles come to life in vibrant manners. We appreciate all you do!
Gratitude: Thank you for supportively greeting students and each other when you first interact. That small moment can make a student's and person day. A "hello, ____" or "good morning, ____" goes a long way to create a safe, positive learning culture. Thank you for your uplifting Spartan spirit.
Gratitude: Thank you for continuing to hand out Spartan Bucks to students who are showing Schurr values and expectations (Supportive, Courageous, Hardworking, Uplifting, Responsible, and Respectful) and the 4Cs (Critical Thinker, Collaborator, Communicator, and Creator).
