Hello Hoover Families,

We are just about done with the first month of school. We are proud of our students as they have worked hard with reviewing and relearning the routines and expectations of school after having three months off (or in our kindergarten students' case, they are learning it for the first time). During September, our Hoover staff taught and modeled the following items:

• Common Spaces Expectations (classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, playground, etc)
• Bus Evacuation Drills
• Bus/Transportation Safety Lessons
• Fire Drills (completed 2 out of 5 required for the school year)
• Respecting Body Boundaries

We would appreciate your continued partnership at home with reviewing these with students. Ask them about what they've learned and how it's helped them be successful at school. During the month of October, our Hoover staff will teach/review the importance of kind words and why words we choose to use with others matter. We will continue with practicing fire drills and include lockout and lockDown drills.

• Literacy Intervention Teacher (LIT) - Part time and teaching license required
• Long-Term Kindergarten Sub - Starts mid-October and goes through end of February and a teaching license is required
• Special Education Para - Full time, 6.5 hours w/benefits

Fall conferences are coming up. Information and directions were sent home via paper last week with students. You can also view the directions below. Fall conferences this year take place on the following days:

• Monday, October 7th from 4:30-8:30 pm
• Thursday, October 10th from 7:35-8:35 am and 4:30-7:30 pm
• Tuesday, October 15th from 4:30-8:30 with a VIRTUAL options from 6:30-8:30

DIRECTIONS TO SIGN UP:

1. Go to www.Myconferencetime.com/Hoover
2. Click on the name of your student's teacher (if you need multiple conferences, click on the link 'Register for Multiple Time Slots')
3. Select the desired date/time for your conference by clicking ‘Sign Up’
4. All conferences are in-person EXCEPT FOR Tuesday, October 15th from 6:30-8:30.
5. Click ‘Sign Up’
6. After you schedule a conference on-line, the date and time are reserved for you. If you entered your email address correctly, you will receive an email reminder a few days prior to your conference.

Thank you to those who have supported PTO and Hoover with our fall fundraiser. There is still time to participate! For more information about this event, please click here. Check out what has been fundraised and what class is leading below.

Please send an extra pair of pants and underwear for your child in case there is an accident (bathroom, breakfast/lunch spill, etc.). The health office loves donations of gently used sweatpants and leggings sizes 5-10. We also appreciate new packs of underwear for boys and girls sizes 5-10.

The health office has free at home Covid tests. Email Darlene.Anderson@ahschools.us and we can send them home with your child.

If your child goes to the doctor or dentist, please request a doctor's note and send it with your child for attendance purposes.

So much is happening at Hoover! Be sure to get your volunteer application completed to stay up to date on all the happenings at Hoover. Don't forget, students can volunteer also at some events!

We have our first field experience coming up in November plus many more throughout the year! Those 18 years or older wanting to chaperone these events must have a volunteer application and background check in at least 2 weeks prior to the event or they will not be eligible to attend!

Just a reminder that any volunteer 18 years or older must complete the volunteer application and background check each school year. Those 17 and younger only need to complete the volunteer application each school year.
