February: Fostering Kindness
Dear Families and Caregivers,
February is shaping up to be an exciting and meaningful month at the UES, as we come together to celebrate kindness, inclusivity, and the power of play! We have a wonderful lineup of events that will encourage our students to build stronger social connections, spread kindness, and take pride in making our school a welcoming place for all.
One of the highlights of the month will be our Extra Hour of Play, where we emphasize the importance of play in helping students develop social skills, teamwork, and friendships. Providing more opportunities for socialization helps our students grow not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well.
We are also looking forward to our school-wide assembly, "Leading with Pride: UES Kindness Day," where we will focus on the message that kindness matters and that our school is a place of respect, inclusion, and acceptance. During this special event, members of the town council will join us to make a Kindness Proclamation, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring that the UES remains a place where every student feels safe, valued, and supported. We are proud to stand together as a school community in declaring that the UES is no place for hate.
In addition, from February 10th to February 14th, we will be celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week—a time dedicated to recognizing and encouraging simple, yet powerful, acts of kindness within our school community. To wrap up this special week, we will come together for a fun-filled Valentine’s Day celebration, spreading love and positivity among our students and staff.
As we embark on this meaningful month, we encourage you to talk with your child about the power of kindness. In a world where they can choose anything, we hope they always choose to be kind. Your support in reinforcing this message at home makes a lasting impact.
Thank you for partnering with us in creating a culture of kindness and respect at UES. We look forward to a fantastic February!
With gratitude,
Dr. J and the UES Leadership Team
