Stay involved with the following...

• Meet other band families through the Booster events
• Spirit Nights (monthly) Invite another family, take the night off in the kitchen, & enjoy the fellowship with fellow band families! These nights not only help the OWBB budget, which directly impacts our students, but it also brings about community within the band.
• Uniforms (November 27) The marching uniforms need washing one more time, & it's also time to get students fitted for Concert Season! See Meadows' Memos below for more information.
• Winter Extravaganza (December 7) This is a real treat! The RHS bands & orchestras join together for a spectacular night of musical entertainment. Tickets are limited! Watch for information from Mr. Downs' emails coming soon.
• Williams Middle School Concert (December 12) & Utley Middle School Concert (December 13) We need Booster volunteers to help us bridge the gap between Middle School & High School bands! Come help serve refreshments & tell your child's story about how band has made a positive impact on their High School years. Students don't really know what band is until they experience High School, & we want to encourage more to stick with it. Look for more information coming soon on the band app to see how you can be involved.
• Denim & Diamonds Gala & Silent Auction (February 23) Listen to our talented jazz bands while you dance the night away, dine in style, & have an opportunity to bid on big & small ticketed items. This is a ticketed event open to all!

For anyone that volunteered in anyway during marching season, we want to take some time to celebrate & say thank you! We are going to meet at the soccer fields by the main clubhouse in Woodcreek Subdivision on Sunday, November 12, from 2pm-6pm. Bring a dish, lawn chairs, soccer ball, fishing pole, & the family. If you have any folding tables, please bring those too!

It happens to us all! You get so caught up in the moment of watching the incredible performances, & then realize too late that you forgot to buy the patch for the marching event. Our students work so hard to letter in band! Make sure they have a jacket full of patches when it's time to wear it.

Wondering how to letter in band?

A letter jacket is one of the most visible parts of a school organization. Letter jackets may be ordered by band members who earn the required number of points & meet eligibility requirements, & will be ordered every Band Registration Day for band members who earned a jacket the previous year. Students must be currently enrolled in band to order & receive a letter jacket.

Total Points Needed: 1000 (Points are awarded per year)

• Marching Band – 250 points
• Concert Band – 100 points
• Symphony Orchestra UIL – 100 points
• Jazz Band – 50 points
• Winter Guard – 100 points
• Musical Pit Orchestra – 25 points
• Band Council – 100 points
• All-Region Qualifier – 150 points
• All-Region Jazz Qualifier – 100 points
• Area Qualifier – 200 points
• All-State Jazz Taping Qualifier – 150 points
• All-State Qualifier – 500 points
• TSSEC Participant – 50 points

Our first playoff game will be Friday, 11/10 at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium at 7 pm. This will be the usual home game routine for us. We will wear the regular marching uniform with the orange band t-shirt underneath. Rehearsals will be Thursday, 7:30am-8:15am & Friday, 7am-8:15am. Look for email communication for future playoff games.

Thank you for helping the band smell & look nice throughout the marching season! We have one more marching uniform wash after play off season, Monday, November 27 at 4:00 PM. Didn't sign up? No problem! We can always use extra volunteers for this!

There are many volunteer opportunities for the concert uniform check out!! Please sign up today if you are available any time November 27-29: Concert Uniform Fittings. We are short volunteers for many time slots.

Concert Uniform things to purchase - Take care of it sooner rather than later ... it sneaks up!

Tuxedo Additional Needs:

• Plain White/Grey Undershirt
• White Traditional Tuxedo Shirt (pleats don’t matter), Traditional or wing tip Collar (for Bowtie)
• These sellout quickly around town! Plan ahead!!
• Solid Black Dress Socks (calf height)
• Black Dress Shoes (not marching shoes)

Concert Dress from RHS OR Meet the Following Criteria:

• All-Black Dress (one-piece; Dress reaches ankle or floor when standing)
• An ALL BLACK PANT SUIT (with jacket)
• Black dress slacks & a dress shirt with a jacket or cardigan
• Solid Black Pantyhose/tights
• Closed-Toed Black Heels or dress flats (no toms or boots!)
• ​**Shoulders must be totally covered by top, dress or shawl!

All-Region jazz students should be practicing their music for all-region jazz clinic & concert! The clinic and concert are coming up on November 17th & 18th! A schedule for this will be sent out on Monday next week.

Jazz Band Winter Concert is Monday, December 11th at 7:00pm in the Rockwall Theater!

Join us for our Spirit Fundraiser at MOD Pizza on November 16, 2023 any time between 10:30 AM-10:00 PM. RHS Orange Wave Band Boosters will receive 20% of fundraiser sales during this fundraiser, as well as receive a chance to win an additional $1000.
