The Weekly Update #4
September 2nd, 2024
From the Principal
The Week in Review
Families,
Students will continue to work on diagnostic screeners this week. Last week, our 8th graders began taking their STAR tests through the library. This test gives students and teachers a gauge as to what level they are reading on. Once we complete testing throughout the school, we will shout out all students who are members of the 1000 club. Students who score at 1000 or above are reading on level!
On Friday, we will be at the 4 1/2 week mark of the 1st nine weeks. That means, progress reports will go home with students next week. So, if your child's grade is not where he/she wants it to be, this is the time for them to get with their teachers in order to ensure that they are asking to be on pullout list in order to complete missing work.
On Friday, we will have our first Casual Dress for $3 day. Students may wear casual dress, however, they must remain in appropriate dress code. Anyone not adhering to this will have to call home for a change of clothing and will not be allowed to participate in the next Casual Dress Day.
We are still having issues with some students who are not following the cellphone/electronics policy. Parents, this has been reiterated several times. Because they have been warned, students who continue to disobey policy will have disciplinary consequences. So, please speak with your scholars regarding this.
Finally, be on the lookout for a google form that I will attach to the next newsletter in order to determine interest in after school tutoring. This is something that we want to begin, however, we want to make sure that there is interest for it. It will be without transportation, so parents will have to pick their students up by 4:30 when we begin. So again, please be on the lookout for that information to be sent out.
Again parents, thank you all for the support that you continue to give to your child(ren), teachers, and administrators.
Educationally yours,
Regina M. Bennett, Esq.
