The Llewellyn Friday Flyer
June 7, 2024
Dear Families,
We are down to the wire and feeling all the "feels", both excited and sad about the last week of school while at the same time looking forward to summer. We've got this!!! One more week of incredible memories to be made!
One of the best parts about this week was yesterday's dance performance of the Soran Bushi by our 3rd, 4th & 5th graders, led by our very own Erica Castro. It was amazing to see all three grades dancing together, putting their heart and soul into the performance. Art, music and dance are so important as they allow students to both challenge and express themselves in ways we may never see if they are not given the opportunity. Thank you, Ms. Castro for the beautiful work you have done with our students this year! You will be HUGELY missed next year!!
Speaking of staff that will be missed, it is with great sadness that we will be saying goodbye to a number of people who have helped our students grow in so many ways. I know you join me in wishing them the best in their next adventure. Erica Castro (dance); Kari Shawen(Library Assistant); Cassie Capone (QMHP); Leah Ruggiere (CB 3-5 para); Caroline Kornberg (temporary CB Speech & Language Pathologist); Amanda Gagnon (temporary K-2 SLP); Audrey Allott (ESL); Julia Montejo (grade 2) and Susan Frisby (Kindergarten).
Don't forget! The Llewellyn Carnival is tonight! 5:30-7:30PM. I hope to see you there!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Principal Pam
Happy Pride Month!
Please help us celebrate Mrs. Frisby's Retirement!
Please join us to celebrate the amazing teaching career of Susan Frisby. We will be gathering in the school garden after school on Thursday, June 13th at 2:30 to honor her retirement. Please spread the word!
Sellwood Community House CLOSED Next Week, Bus Canceled
SCH Parents – We’ve been informed that you were told, but it bears repeating: The Sellwood Community House WILL BE CLOSED next week (6/10-14). This also means that the afternoon “Red” Bus (route 289) will also not be running next week. Please be sure to make alternative plans for your student(s).
After School Classes CONCLUDED!
This was the last week for all after-school classes with the exception of the Gardening Club. Please be sure that you have arranged after-school pick-up for your student(s)!
Last Chance for Lost & Found
Friday, June 14th (the last day of school) will be the last day to pick up Lost & Found. It will be brought outside for pick-up time so that everyone has one last chance to look through it. After that, whatever is left will be donated to the PTA Clothes Closet or thrown away! PLEASE take some time over the next few weeks before or after school to come by and take a look!
2023-24 Llewellyn Yearbooks: Next week every student will receive this year's yearbook (put together by our own incredible Kellie) for free! This is my way of saying thank you to all our amazing students and families who have made my time at Llewellyn special. Teachers will decide when to distribute them in the last days of school. I can't wait for you to see them! Thank you to all who sent in photos!
From the Office
Parents, if you know your student(s) will not be returning to Llewellyn next year, please let the Office know as soon as possible. This helps with planning our class lists for next year (starting soon), as well as making it possible for your new school to register your student(s) for next year. You can email Mark (mrobb@pps.net) or Kellie (kgrunde@pps.net).
3rd–5th grade Parents-updated information re: Chromebook Return & Check out
We are closing in on the end of the year and that means it is almost time for your student(s) to turn in their Chromebook! Students will be turning them in sometime on Wednesday, June 12th (your teacher will have the specific time), with the 13th available for last-minute, individual returns. Students are expected to return their Chromebook, Power Cord, and Case. Starting this year, lost Cords and Chromebooks will be charged to the student.
If you would like your student(s) to have their Chromebook available to them for the summer, please print, fill out, and sign (both parent AND student) THIS FORM and have your student return it to school, instead of their Chromebook, on their class’ appointed day and time. Copies of the form are also available outside the office for pick-up.
5th grade students are REQUIRED to turn in their Chromebooks. They will be issued new ones at their Middle School.
Any student who does not return either the summer form, or their Chromebook, will be considered to have lost their device. Lost devices are immediately deactivated remotely and will not be able to be used.
If you have any questions, please contact Mark in the office.

News from the PTA
PTA Happenings
We have come to the end of our year with the last event TODAY: the Llewellyn Carnival!!! Our PTA is so grateful to all of our volunteers who all year long give their time and energy to all of our events and fundraisers. It takes so many volunteers to do what we do and because of you guys we are able to send so many students on field trips, give teachers access to educational tools in the classroom and help our Llewellyn community with a variety of needs during the school year.
Next year we will have a bit of a learning curve while we join together with our amazing Llewellyn Foundation board and committee members to continue bringing you such fun events and fundraisers such as Run Llewellyn, dine out nights, and beautiful wreaths during the holidays. However, we have high hopes that this will make our community stronger as we come together and bring new ideas toward our fundraising goals. Please feel free to email us with your ideas or suggestions anytime at llewellynpta@gmail.com.
If you have an incoming kinder student or know of someone who does in our community, we will be having some meet ups during the summer so families can get better acquainted and build community. All play dates will be at the Llewellyn playground.
Kinder Play Dates

From The Foundation
The PPS school board recently voted to overhaul local school foundations like Llewellyn's starting in July. It is important to note that funds raised through June 30 will still benefit Llewellyn in the 24-25 school year. Official fundraising numbers through May are still forthcoming but through April 2024, we have raised over $49,000 (66%) towards our goal of $75,000. Thank you to everyone who has contributed! You can still donate HERE through June.
For our recurring donors, you should receive an email this month from the Fund for PPS confirming that your donor designations to Llewellyn specifically will end on June 30, 2024.
What about Foundation fundraisers next year? Fundraisers like Run Llewellyn, the Wreath Sale, and Dine Outs aren't going anywhere - they will still benefit Llewellyn via the PTA.
Still need to pick up your sign and magnet? Email below to arrange pick up.
