Souper Bowl Readers!

Thank you so much for encouraging your children to read each night for our Reading Souper Bowl! Sprague students have read 178,305 minutes in 12 days! Some of that success is attributed to World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday where students were encouraged to read a favorite book to a friend or by themselves as shown in these photos. The school also brought in guest readers to share their love of a good book, including the Village of Lincolnshire Police Department.


Tomorrow, Feb. 7, the Reading Souper Bowl encourages students to wear their favorite sports shirt to school as a way to wrap up our reading initiative.


Canned Good Donations Teaches Empathy

In addition to reading, families have generously donated over 400 canned goods so far! Donations will go to a local food pantry as well as Fill a Heart 4 Kids, a nonprofit organization that helps children who are homeless and in foster care. Many of the classes have been collecting, sorting, and counting the cans.


"It has been heartwarming to see how excited the children are, not only about reading but also about contributing to such a meaningful cause. They’ve been talking enthusiastically about the canned goods they’re donating, and it’s wonderful to see them connect their reading habits with giving back to the community. This initiative perfectly aligns with our Portrait of a Graduate Competency on Empathy, which has been our focus throughout the month. Your support has helped foster this important value, teaching our students that reading can be both an enriching personal experience and a way to make a positive impact on others. Thank you for being such an important part of this journey!" said Principal Ann Hofmeier.

Bring Cash to the Dance to Support LA Fires

Team Vani second-graders are selling repurposed, rainbow, glitter crayons and decorate-your-own Rice Krispie Treats at the Sprague Valentine’s Dance on Saturday, Feb. 8. Everything is $2.00 or three items for $5.00. Please bring cash. Team Vani will donate the proceeds to children who lost their belongings in the recent Los Angeles fires. On Monday, Feb. 10, and Tuesday, Feb. 11, Team Vani will sell any leftover crayons from her classroom, Room 18. Please send your Sprague Wildcat to school with a few dollars on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks so much for your support!

Valentine's Day Parties

Sprague students and staff will celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday, Feb. 14. Students may bring valentine cards to school for all of their classmates. Class lists are not provided. Please only send NON-Edible treats to school with your child’s Valentine's Day cards. Our classroom parties for Valentine's Day focus on friendship and exchanging cards with peers and teachers during the day at school.

Kindergarten/Preschool Registration Now Open

Kindergarten

Kindergarten registration is now open for the 2025-2026 school year. Kindergarten registration is for District 103 residents who will turn 5-years-old on or before September 1. (Please do not register your Sprague early childhood student for kindergarten until the spring.)


The district offers half day and full day kindergarten. There is no lottery for full day kindergarten. Registration takes place through our online portal, PowerSchool enrollment.

  • Full day kindergarten is $3,500, if a deposit of $500 is paid by April 4, and $3,850 thereafter.

  • Full day kindergarten tuition is payable in two installments due August 1, 2025 and December 1, 2025.

  • Half day kindergarten is $100.00 for the year.

Preschool

Register today for the Sprague Early Childhood program that focuses on learning through play by providing hands-on, interactive learning experiences. Our early childhood students participate in a variety of small and large group activities that focus on developing social and learning related skills through investigation, exploration, and discovery.

Early Childhood Community Peer tuition rates for 2025-2026 are as follows:

  • Extended Day: $8,686 per year

  • Half Day Tuition: $4,343 per year

  • Bus transportation to and from Sprague School will be available for a fee of $400 per year per child.

  • Bus transportation available to/from area child care facilities.

Valentine Dance

Get ready to celebrate friendship and fun at the Sprague Valentine Dance, hosted by Sprague School and the D103 PTO!

When: Saturday, Feb. 8, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Attire: Dress to impress!

Price: Bring cash to the dance to pay for tickets, snacks, and crafts.

Join us in celebrating our talented students as they take the stage in the Sprague Gym! From musicians and dancers to magicians and more, it's a day of entertainment and community fun. Run for D103 5K

The Run for D103 5K Run/Walk is a family-friendly, annual fundraising event held in the spring that enables the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) to provide District 103 with programs and equipment for the benefit of our children. This race is representative of our district's commitment to foster both healthy minds and healthy bodies in our children and to instill a lifelong passion for education and exercise.

BOWL-for-KIDS Fundraiser

The Kiwanis Club of Buffalo Grove and Lincolnshire is rolling into action, and we've got an event that's right up your alley – quite literally! Join us for the second installment of our BOWL-for-KIDS Fundraiser event that promises an evening of strikes, spares, and all-around good times while raising money to benefit the youth in and around our community.

Transportation Poster Contest

District 103's Transportation Department encourages students in grades k-8 to participate in the "Safety First - Safety Always" Illinois Association for Pupil Transportation Poster Contest. Get all the contest information on the Illinois Association for Pupil Transportation website. The submission deadline is April 18.
