Happy Friday Wildcats
Welcome Back! We have had a wonderful week of learning. I appreciate your patience as we continue to navigate arrival and dismissal. Just a reminder, if you will be signing your student out early, please remember to bring your ID with you.
The Workman 2023/2024 back-to-school handbook contains essential info about Workman School that should be read before the first day.
We are Brave
This year, Workman Elementary School will be focusing on the theme “We are Brave.” To anchor our work, we will be reading the book Brave by Stacy McAnulty. This book will be coming home with your student sometime during the school year. It is the goal for each family to read the book and “make their mark” by writing a small note, quote, or idea about being brave and signing their names. More information will be provided by your student’s teacher when it is your family's turn with the book.

It is preferred that students bring lunch from home or purchase lunch from the cafeteria. Food deliveries to the office from outside vendors (i.e. Jimmy Johns, Grubhub, Doordash, etc.) are not permitted and will not be accepted. Parents, of course, may drop off lunches from home in the office for their children. P-CCS provides a variety of nutritious breakfast and lunch options at school each day. For menu information please refer to the district website.

From the Distroct
We are excited to announce the new date for the P-CCS Back to School Bash! Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 26, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the P-CEP Bus Loop (located behind Salem High School - 46181 Joy Rd, Canton).
Though fall might be a little cooler, the fun and excitement of this event remain! We invite all P-CCS students, families, and community members to join us for an afternoon filled with games, food, and plenty of fun. This is a great opportunity to meet school and district leaders, learn about the many programs P-CCS offers from preschool through high school, and kick off the school year together.
Additionally, we’re offering tours of the P-CEP campus—a perfect way for younger families to get a sneak peek of the high school in a fun and engaging setting. It's not too late to start the school year with a bang! We can't wait to see you there.
The new school year is upon us and we are excited! The new year brings lots of opportunities for our students and their families. This year, we're placing a special emphasis on the power of consistent attendance. Why? Because we believe in unlocking every student's full potential, and that starts with being present. As a district, we will monitor attendance and notify parents/guardians on a consistent basis when students are absent.
Key benefits of daily attendance:
Stress reduction
Stronger connections with peers and teachers
Enhanced learning experiences
Let's work together to make daily school attendance a habit. Your child's success starts with showing up.
P-CCS is in urgent need of school crossing guards for various locations across the District. The position pays $14.25 per hour and staff work about 10 to 20 hours a week. You can view all the details by clicking on the Crossing Guards Posting.
Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is handing out free fresh fruits and vegetables to local families every week as part of its drive to make nutritious local produce easily available to students. To highlight the district’s continuing focus on nutritious Michigan-based products, P-CCS is also the first school district in Michigan to successfully source affordable, nutritious organic dry edible beans from a Michigan grower and processor through a partnership with the Michigan Bean Commission.
In its first year after launching in July, the district’s Summer Harvest Packs program invites families to pick up a big bag of free produce every Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. (or while supplies last) at Discovery Middle School. P-CCS volunteers give out bagged produce to the first 100 people who come to the school’s front drive. The program runs through Friday, Oct. 11.
P-CCS Community Education youth and adult recreation and enrichment activities are now open for enrollment. A variety of after-school, evening, and weekend opportunities are being offered this autumn. Some classes begin as early as the week of September 16, so register today at PCCS.REG.ELEYO.COM/COMMUNITYED.
There are still openings in the popular two-year-old Stay and Play program, as well as the Youth Dance program for ages 2.5 up to 18 years. Weekly classes begin in September and conclude in May.
Fall basketball leagues for third through eighth grade also start in late September. Volunteer coaches are needed so additional teams can be formed. Head to the Community Education website for league details and to enroll. Winter leagues open in October. Be sure to sign up for Community Education e-notifications for regular updates.
