Fall Sports Review
The following are some highlights from our Fall Sports Season at RHS. If any teams have additional updates to share with the community, please send them to Athletic Director Frank Shea!
- Boys Varsity Soccer finished 6-9-3, missing playoffs by 3 points. This year we played 14 games within the GBL posting a 6-6-2 record, good enough for 5th place. The 4 non-league games were against top 10 Division 1 competition including the eventual Division 1 State Champions St. John's Prep. Co-Captain Brayan Medina (2025) was named a GBL All-Conference player as well as selected to play in the EMASS All-Star game (picture attached below). Co-Captain Santiago Grajales (2023) was also named to the GBL All-Conference team, and Bryan Pena (2024) was selected to play in the EMASS All-Star game.
- Revere Football ended the year with a loss to Winthrop and a 4-7 record. Although the season was not what we envisioned this Team played 3 Top 25 Teams and fought hard to make the playoffs! Great bunch of young men who dedicated their time and effort all year long. Always a PROUD PATRIOT!
- The biggest highlight of our season is that Captain Brayden Shanley and first year Boys Cross Country runner Zaraius Bilimoria finished in the top 30 of the GBL League Meet and both finished over a minute and a half faster than when they ran on the same course early in the season. Another highlight was the strong performances of newcomers Luca Shanley and Deren Renderos.
- Over the course of the season, the Girls Cross Country team showed consistent improvement. Lead by outstanding results from Olivia Rupp and Rocio Gonzalez Castillo the team finished with a winning record. Olivia went on to place 10th at the Freshman Division II Coach Meet on November 5th.
- Girls JV Soccer had a great season under first year head coach rivera and coach Kelly.. the JV soccer team worked hard all season and challenged the varsity girls in practice to make them better.. they succeeded on and off the field as well
- Girls Varsity Soccer finished their season 10-7-2 with a state tournament loss to Bishop Stang, senior captain Nahomy Galvez lead the team with 15 goals this season and goalkeeper Nisrin Sekkat had a great season for us this year. We had four players represent us in the first GBL All Star game this year and they were Ari Pina, Giselle Salvador, Erika Mejia and Sandra Torres. The girls worked hard all season long on and off the field and as a coach that’s all I can ask for and I am proud of this group of young ladies. We had some ups and downs this season but the senior leadership kept everyone working hard on and off the field. We look forward to next season with a lot of players coming back.
World Cup Celebrations @ RHS
The World Cup happening while school is in session has definitely made it hard for some to focus, but it has also been a great opportunity to bring the community together and highlight the wonderful diversity at RHS. Last week, Morocco won during lunch and our staff and students alike celebrated in the Cafeteria. Please send pictures of RHS community members celebrating the World Cup! Moving into the final weeks of the tournament, we will work to find opportunities for group viewing of games that happen after school. Any students interested in helping to plan this should reach out to Dr. Ortega, Junior Class Assistant Principal.

Family Liaison Updates
RHS Family Liaisons
At RHS we are lucky to have two family liaisons on our team. Sue Goncalves works with Grades 9 & 11. Sandra Figueroa works with Grades 10 & 12. Family liaisons are your go-to people for questions about how to engage with school, who to contact for help and how to engage with RHS Faculty. They are also working to plan some events to build our community and celebrate our students. If you are interested in helping the Family Liaisons plan any of the following events, please email me to express your interest. We hope to be able to share details of these events when we return to RHS after the New Year!
- Adolescent Substance Use and Teen Vaping. Working with some community partners through the Massachusetts Collaborative for Action, Leadership, and Learning (MassCALL3), Revere High School is planning to host a series of events during Semester 2 to help families learn about Adolescent Substance Use and Teen Vaping. Stay tuned for more information, and reach out to Sandra or myself if you're interested in helping!
- Student Recognition. When Semester 1 ends in January, Revere High is looking to host a Community Event to celebrate the work our students and teachers have done throughout the first half of the year. If you have ideas for how we can celebrate our students and faculty, please reach out to Sue or myself if you're interested in planning.
- Spring Guidance Information for Underclassmen. Our family liaisons will be working with the Guidance Department during Semester 2 to make sure families know everything they need to know about College and Financial Aid. The idea is to have these events before senior year so families have all the information they need to support their students.
- School Culture Team. We are working to form a team of faculty, students and family members to help us examine and improve the school culture at Revere High School. Any family members interested in learning about this opportunity to collaborate should e-mail Mr. Bowen to express their interest.
